Well, technically you don't have to be a "legal" US resident, but you do need to reside in the US since the MSDN Subscriptions I have to give away are region locked to the US. I wish they weren't.

Hi all. I hope this is the right forum for this question.
I need to catch the source of a web page that have same code in flash. this code is not in the source that we see in View--> Source of the browser.
Somebody nows if is any object in ShockwaveFlashObjects that I can use to catch this? I need to check the on screen text and this is flash.

Hello,
I want to retrieve the text associated with a system error message from the windows resources.
Example:
Environment.GetResourceString('ArgumentOutOfRange_Index'));
This code wont compile because GetResourceString is not a public method.
So how can I get the error message for 'ArgumentOutOfRange_Index'?

Something like this maybe...
string errorMessage = new System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception(System.Runtime.InteropServices.Marshal.GetLastWin32Error()).Message;
Or maybe p/invoke the Win32 FormatMessage() API.

Hello,
I'm developing a database driven membership application that will be distributed via CD-ROM. Right now I'm using Access as my database, primarily because you can commnicate with the .Net framework. Several people have told me to go with SQL Server but I'm not sure how to install the SQL service along with my app. Is there a good resource describing how to do this?
I've used up all my sick days, so today I'm calling in dead.

Only the Express editions are redistributable AFAIK.

Also SQL Server Compact edition is free to use. In single user scenario this may be easier to install and maintain.

Is there a special way to make a release for the client? That is to say can I go into the debug folder and just copy everything to another computer and it will work. I ask this because it doesn't work this way from both debug folders. I am not getting an exception error either that I could debug. It is just simply crashing before it opens.

Though Mark has already specified the link on How To's.
This a general tip from my side. Never ever deploy the debug version on client side.
The Debug version is generally to help us(the developers) to undertand the abnormal behaviour during development.
Adding to that, complier optimises the code to greater extent in the Release version.

My understanding of event handling in .net is that event subscription and unsubscription are performed by m_theEvent[delegate].Combine(m_theEvent, subscribingDelegate) or m_theEvent[delegate].Remove(m_theEvent, unsubscribingDelegate). Certainly that is how they are illustrated in the books I've read. Such constructs would not be threadsafe, but when I've written some code to bash events (I only have a single-processor) I've not seen any subscription failures though I have seen unsubscription failures.
Do .net 2.0 and above do anything to ensure that subscriptions actually succeed (e.g. via locks or a CompareExchange loop), or is the code just getting "lucky", or what? If multiple threads will be subscribing and unsubscribing, may events safely be used or should some other mechanism be used instead?

I'm using vb.net, rather than c#, but I think I understand most of the article.
A few things I'm not quite clear on, though:
-1- If I declare a custom event, will all subscribers to the event use the subscribe/unsubscribe methods described therefor, and make no other access to anything to do with the event?
-2- What happens to event handlers for an object that falls out of scope? If I have an object that contains a reference to another object that sends events, will the presence of the former object in the latter object's subscription list keep it alive indefinitely?
-3- Is there any way to have an event subscriber keep or pass something other than a raw delegate? My guess is probably not when using the standard mechanisms, but if a subscriber could hold some data which could be passed with an unsubscribe request, efficient lock-free thread-safe subscription management would be practical.
