Hi,
I've created a web site, and placed some links like gmail,yahoo, I wanted to login with my username and password automatically onclicking the link. e.g.

Hi,
I put following code to register my startup script in case exception occurs in saving the record.
..
Catch ex As Exception
Dim sReturnMapDataScript As String = "<script language='JavaScript'>"
sReturnMapDataScript &= "alert('" + ex.Message + "');"
sReturnMapDataScript &= "</script>"
ClientScripts.RegStartupScript(Page, "ReturnMapDataScript", sReturnMapDataScript)
end try
so the alert message show up as the error occurs and page refreshes.
But this script remains registered with my page forever for any action which involves page refresh, the above message shows up.
Is there anything I can do so that the script only runs once (in case of exception) and not for other page postbacks?
Can I unregister it in the javascript itself. or is there any other way?
any tip will highly help me.

I think you can use ClientScript.RegisterClientScript(....) method instead of RegStartupScript(). I hope this is helpful to you. Moreover you are using this script in catch block when error comes this script executes(vb code) so may be your catch block is executing every time of page_Load event without considering of postback events. Verify that too.

see, flow of the actions is
1. user clicks save record button.
2. error occurs
3. in vb code behind exception block code, alert message javascript is registered as startup script
4. postback happens
5. page loads again and alert message is shown
6. now this script is registered with the page , now you hit F5 , page refreshes again and this message is shown again. here its not going to exception error code block to register again
i want this alert to be shown only once, not for every postback

I have an old control (VB6) that I am trying to incorporate to an ASP/C# website. I have the control loading properly and can set basic variable type properties of the control on the client side through Javascript; however, some properties, specifically ADODB recordsets, throw up the following error when trying to assign:
'ABODB' is undefined.
The line of javascript it barfs on:
myObj.GenRecordset = <%=GetGenRecordset %>;
where the GetGenRecordset returns a proper ADODB.Recordset through its 'get' accessor. I have tried changing it to only pass the generic object type rather than the ADODB.Recordset but get the exact same error.
I want the control to load and run on the client side in the browser and the back-end to be able to post events coming from a piece of server software (also VB6). The back-end events are coming through fine, but the initialization of the control is giving me problems.
I am using the C# access through Javascript approach because it seems like the best way to do it, although I am open to a different method if suggested.

Hi,
I m using yahoo api to develop slider range control which will fetch values from database when user changes the values using slider controls created using yahoo api javascript.
My problem is that when the user changes the values using slider I must be able to track the textchanged event of asp.net textbox control but since the slider is created using javascript it not causing page to call postback and hence I cannot trace the values are server side and call the database values to display.
I have set textbox autopostback property to true.
Can anyone suggest me how to track it.

In dot net we have client callback mechanism. I hope that can help you.
So through JavaScript you can invoke the server side method.
Otherwise, you can use delemeters with in the javascript like <% here you need to handle the text_changed event%> ( the text changed event should forcefully call here)
Otherwise, write a function at serverside and call that function within delemeter code block.

I am in a need of how to make multiple selection of files
, that means I can select more than one file from the open file dialog.
And also, How to filter file types as well.
I want something similar to Orkut Photo Upload section, where one can select more than one file and create a list of all files selected before actually uploading.

No I am not that person.
Now I dont think they are using Active X as I have seen that to be working on Mozilla. ActiveX is not supported to Mozilla.
Regarding JAVA, is it javascript. If it is with javascript, I am eagar to know the process.
I dont think they are using Applets.
Please let me know the solution to create one like this.

Dear Friends,
i m going to create an class which is use exception class with some business logic i will return an error message to the class from where the error was occure, but to carried out this process i m retriving the error message through my database passing the error id which is comeing from the class where the error was occure (i mean i have created an table which store error message about the error in database) and using that error class i m going to show that error to my client.
you got the scenarion, now i have one question in mind that "Is this a cleaver way to stored the error message in database and use when the error occured"
can anyone give me idea about this....or even give me some good idea then what i think...

Why would you need to do this ? If you have a real need to store the message in the DB, I'd create my own exception class, and have it have a property which is the id from which to get the message. But, it seems very messy and disconnected to me.
