Hello,
I have taken a datalist and a RadioButtonListin in EditItemTemplate of DataList. I want to show the value in RadioButtonList(Yes/No) from database on Click event of edit button of DataList1_EditCommand.
How to Bind value in RadioButtonList.

Hi all,
I have table in Database. In that two of the columns of type 'text'.
It contains data of all types, like numerics , text with numerics.
I am binding that table into Gridview. Using Datasource control.
Paging & sorting is automatically done( i set those properties to true).
The problem is in sorting of Column type 'text'.
When i click on header of column type 'text', its giving an error message.
Error :System.NotSupportedException: An order by expression can only contain non-constant scalars that are order comparable by the server. The expression with type 'Text' is not order comparable.
How to fix this error.
Is there any possibility not to raise sorting event when user hits on a particular column of type 'text'?
Please suggest me, how to solve this problem.

Doesn't this error explain everything on its own.
Well, the thumb rule is columns of type text, image etc can not be sorted.

The only feasible option(AFAIK) is to write an ActiveX control(will only support IE) for this.

Dear all,
I am using asp.net2.0, C#, ajax1.0
Now there is requirement where I have to check user where he has access to this side it not then show the message and return to default page
Now I am trying with this code
Define a method in a class as
public void ShowMsg(string msg, Page p)
{
String csname1 = "PopupScript";
Type cstype = this.GetType();
String cstext1 = "alert(' " + msg + "');";
ScriptManager.RegisterClientScriptBlock(p, cstype, csname1, cstext1, true);
}
then call this method as
Doctor drck = new Doctor();
drck.ShowMsg("Access denied", this.Page);
and redirect it as
Response.Redirect("~/HTML/writeup.aspx");
Now issue is page does not redirect to specified path
if I comment message then page redirect
What problem with the code
If any better idea, please suggest

use session... to store your message, and after redirecting, you need to show the message from session to the document.
If you are writing the alert on the same page, it will not work. Rather you can call alert in writeup.aspx. Its better practice

Use javascript to redirect instead of using response.redirect
for eg..
Sub Show_Msg()
Dim scp As String = "alert('Access denied ');window.location.href='~/HTML/writeup.aspx'"
ClientScript.RegisterClientScriptBlock(Me.GetType(), "script1", scp)
End Sub
I am not sure whether the "~" sign works in javascript or no.You might have to change it accordingly.

Hi,
I have a requirement in which user entered details like name, adress and all,should be generated as a pdf on Generate PDF buton click.
Can any one help me to get a start on this. I want to know whether i need to use any external dll or is there anything in Asp.Net (vs2005). Also please letme know how will i populate details in a PDF template into the corresponding fields.
Im workking on VS2005 C#

if you want to do it internally, I think you need to use Reports, means Rdlc reports or Crystal ones...
Otherwise Pdf4Net does this for you .. Its a 3rd party tool.

can someone help me out with the code in C# to cascade the dropdownlists without postback event ... im using MS visual studio .net 2003 ..where i cant use ajax .... the scenario is " .. i have four dropdownlists ... and wen i select an item fromthe first dropdown say("D1") the corresponding values for tht selected item shld get populated in the second dropdown say (D2).. and is the same with the other dropdowns as well ....

First thank you for your helping mind.
I need some idea from you.
I am designed one form in asp.net. (using coding in Visual Basic)
Using more than one textbox control in a form.
Each control fixed tabindex starting from 1 in sequential order.
Now run this program, I give a value and press enter key the control
passing to next control. this process is ok for more than one textbox control is using.
But I restrict the textboxes in run time of displaying a form.
This time only one textbox is display the form and one command button. In this case, I give some value in textbox press enterkey but the controll not to go to next control, the next control is command button (OK).
In this time using only tab key is used.
But I want to press enter key the control move to next control of command button is activate and form is refresh to next input.
How to solve the above problem?

In the appSettings section of the Web.config I want to store 'complex' types such as Collections.
Currently to achieve this I am using class libries with a Settings.settings file which allows this (with a nice interface). But I want to move the data to the Web.config file as this will allow me to change the values at runtime (essential).
Does anyone have any ideas on how I can do this? At present, I am simply delimiting the entries with a special character. I fear this may be the best solution...

Web.config is a Configuration file which help in setting up of a website. Change the Web.config at runtime will restart the application (i.e) all the session information will lose. You have to start the application again.

But if I change a variable in the appSettings section on the server, then it will update live and users sessions are not lost - they get the new value and their session is maintained.
But my question is about storing 'complex' types.

All serializable collections can be stored in XML files.

The storing your 'Complex' collections in Web.config which is changing at runtime is a bad idea. Try to use XML files.
