Hi,
You get the header text this way
protected void datagrid_ItemCreated(object sender, DataGridItemEventArgs e)
{
if (e.Item.ItemType == ListItemType.Header)
{
string var = e.Item.Cells[0].Text.ToString();
}
}
Hope this helps .

I have got the Toolkit installed and have a tab in my toolbox with all the controls. I've created a new site and dropped a panel control and dropshadow extender on my page. I then set the controlID for the dropshadow extender to the associate with the panel. But if I go to the panels properties I dont get the extender options. It doesnt seem to be associating the 2. Below is my code:

<asp:scriptmanager id="ScriptManager1" runat="server" xmlns:asp="#unknown">
<asp:panel id="Panel1" runat="server" xmlns:asp="#unknown">
<cc1:dropshadowextender id="DropShadowExtender1" runat="server" targetcontrolid="Panel1" xmlns:cc1="#unknown">
I also noticed that the tag prefix is cc1 when I drop the control on the page instead of ajaxToolkit.
What am I doing wrong??

What's an ideal server for hosting ajax/asp.net web applications?
The problem is that the response from the server is very slow compared to other websites, although on the development server it runs fast. So, why is the response so slow like that? Are there any missing requirements on the development server?
The site is hosted on godaddy. And I've noticed also that text appears first then images. The images are downloaded slowly from the server. I don't know why. I believe there is another website that my company has that is also hosted on godaddy that has the same problem, but it's only implemented with cold fusion and not asp.net.
What is going on? Can someone help me out?
PS: I'm using Update panels and I know that they kinda slow down the pages but is there any workaround that I can use to make the site faster?
thanks in advance

What are the demands of the application?

What are the differences between the servers?

Sounds more like missing requirements for the production server.

That's what happens. All web pages appear like that, it is just they download sufficiently fast that you don't notice.
What is your hosting plan? What kind of bandwidth are you paying for? When you are in development the server is local to you, therefore bandwidth is not an issue. Once deployed, it is an issue.

What's an ideal bandwidth in that case? I really don't know, I'll have to ask the it manager, but how should it be?

You have not supplied enough information for me to answer that.
How much traffic do you expect? How many people will be accessing your site? How much will they be downloading?

I'm setting up some code that will automatically email a user on my network when a process is finished. I've done this before but this time I'm having to do this on a website that is housed within our DMZ and my network admin asked how the username and password that is needed in the web config is passed from the web server to our mail server.

CAN ANY ONE HELP?

You first have to find the control in the code behind, several methods to do that, her is one:
the main page should look something like this.
<%@ Register TagPrefix="uc1" TagName="usersearch" Src="Controls/Search/usersearch.ascx" %>
.
.
.
.
<uc1:usersearchrunat="server" id="ucUsersearch"/>
In the code behind on the main page:
protected void btnSomeButton_Click(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
{
Controls.Search.usersearch _ucUsersearch = (Controls.Search.usersearch)this.Page.FindControl("ucUsersearch");
string strTheText = ucUsersearch.TextInTexbox;
}
in the code behind of the usersearch you have the following property;
public string TextInTexbox
{
get
{
return this.tbTheTextBox.Text;
}
set
{
this.tbTheTextBox.Text = Value;
}
}
}
Hope it helps

Hi,
How can I retrieve the value of one form field in aspx page by a class. For instance: I have a Name.text field in the form and I dont' want to use the following approach but I want to diretly get the value of it by a class.
Dim Myclass as Customer

Myclass.Name = Name.text ' That is how we sent the value to class.

That is what I want. How would it be possible for the class to directly get the value of the Name.text field?
Dim Myclass as Customer

'Whenever I set the paramater as true, class will get all the fields value of a active form.

MyClass.Form = ActiveFormName
MyClass.ProcessForm = True

Take a look at Reflection, that is what you are describing.

Iknow what I am describing Bob. I was looking for another (approach). I know how to assign values of fields to a class object. The problem was about how to get the form fields directly inside a class.

I obviously misunderstood. If all you need are the controls from a form, why not pass the form into the class and iterate through the controls - you will need some sort of standard to allow you to match the cntrol name to the property, but I have used a similar technique in winforms very sucessfully.
Hope this idea is of use.

Please drag a scriptmanager control on the pagr from tool box.The drag updatepanel.You can drag as many update panel as you want but scriptmanager will be onlyone.Then you can drag your controls in the updatepanel as requirment.There is a seeting for updatepanel as updatemode you can set it as Always/Conditional.by setting it conditional you can update from codebehind.
Cheers!!

Place those control inside updatepanel. When the postback happend only the updatepanel portion will be post back. if you have multiple updatepanel and you want update based on condition , use updatemode as conditional.
If you have any query please ask !!!
cheers,
