hi,
Make the links server side.
Add a property in header file. Assisgn it a value every time from a page accesing it.
Then the header should, highlight the link accordingly.
Just change the CSS of the link on server.

Try this Css with your link and try to customize as per your requirement
.LinkCSS LC<br />
{<br />
font-size:7pt;<br />
font-family:verdana;<br />
color:#000080; <br />
}<br />
.LinkCSS LC:link<br />
{<br />
color: #000080;<br />
} <br />
.LinkCSS LC:hover<br />
{<br />
color: #000088;<br />
<br />
}<br />
<br />
.LinkCSS LC:visited<br />
{<br />
color: #000088; <br />
<br />
}

Hi,
When my application is opened in multiple tabs in the same browser, same session id is being used.
Is theres a way in which we can restrict multiple tabs being opened in the browser from my javascript ?
As a work around i tried using cookieless session,it does solve the problem,but since the session id is displayed in the url it is considered as a security threat by our client.
Do we have any mechanisms by which we have encrypt or hide the URL with session id in it ?
Thanks in advance,
R.Sundar.

Hi,
When we make the session cookieless,i cant find the sessionid in querystring.
In the address bar i can see the sessionid appended in the virtual path itself like this
[^]
Thanks,
R.Sundar.

No. It is browser controlled. BTW, what's wrong in sharing session in multiple tabs?

I am stroing most of the fields in the session object.
Traversing back and forth in the application i am restoring the fields from the session object.
So when the application is opened in multiple tabs fields changed in other tabs are being reflected in all other tabs.
I am sure many people would have came across this issue.

There is no way to control how browser tab works. As I said, it is completly controlled by the browser. All you can do is, open the pages in a popup window and I believe you can't add a tab there.

Hi Everybody,

not sure that Silverlight falls under ASP.NET. Why do you need WPF ? What does it offer you ? Is it worth your clients needing to install it ? Is it worth the work ? A business website, I'd guess no.

Hi Graus,
Currently our application was running in production environment. Now we need to do some new enhancements to that application. Now we are thinking to do new website using WPF but our client didn't ask for WPF we only planning to do this in WPF. Can you suggest me is it possible to do in WPF, is it suggestable?
If it was not suggestable then what is the advantage of WPFBrowserApplication Template?
If you know answers to my query Please let me know.
Thankyou very much in advance.
Regards,
Avinash.

It's utterly retarded. You want to rewrite in WPF, but the client didn't ask you to ? Sounds like every Indian outsourcing firm I ever worked with. A nightmare.

Well, WPF allows for a much richer UI, but you should decide that when you start, not when you want to do an update. And, I don't see how a richer UI is vital to a business app.

I'd suggest not to do that if your application is purely business centric. AS Christian said, WPF will give a nice UI but all your visitors have to install "Silverlight" browser plugin to see that. That is annoying and most of them won't do it.
Also it is not advisable to do something which was not at all requested. You can explain your client about the possibilities and proceed with his permission.

What part are you stuck on ? Make them unique in the DB with a key, and do a call to see if they exist before storing them to give you clean UI.

It seems you are utterly ignorant of what ASP.NET is and does. Do some reading.
When you get back, and you know that javascript does not run in code behind, you can run js on the client by calling it in OnClientClick, which will not call OnClick if the method returns false.

Yes , you can run from code behind
Try to Learn About
Page.RegisterClientScriptBlock
There are lots of sample on Google.
if your are using AJAX on page, then use ScriptManager instated of Page.

I think,You don't have good idea about server side and client side.
but I think you reaquirement is to execute one javascript on the page render after the button click event.You can do it by registering javascript function in the codebehind.
Register the function as
Page.ClientScript.RegisterStartupScript(this.GetType(), this.ClientID, "JSfun();", true);
Here JSfun() is a javascript function which is defined on aspax and will be executed when page will render.

It's better you tell the flow of an ASP.NET page and make him understtod.and advise him another solution.

After several searches, I have not been able to come up with a viable solution to this problem.
I have an application that I am working on in ASP.NET 1.1. Within the same website, there is an ASP.NET 2.0 application, but they need to access the same session variables for seamless operation.
I need a solution that is two fold, 1) to handle ASP 1.1 and ASP 2.0 session variables, and 2) Allow these session variables to act modularly as we upgrade our application to newer framework, ultimately 3.5.
Thanks in advance for any help!

I wrote a service that stored and retrieved session variables to do this.
