This forum is being bolded to indicate new messages, but the "last visit" and "last week" views do not show any new messages. The former only shows the buglist, the latter a number of old messages.

Does the codeproject perform virus scanning on files uploaded to the site ? My anti-virus software (AVG) reported that a file in This[^] article contains a virus. Someone else already notified the author of a possible infection however, after downloading it again I see that my anti-virus still reports it as being infected. Specifically it is this link http://www.codeproject.com/KB/shell/OpenedFileFinder/OpenFileFinder_src_vc8.zip[^] and file within that archive is ListFileDrv.sys. Although I'm loath to ask anyone to download it to see if their anti-virus S.W. flags it as a virus, I'm wondering if there is anyway to verify that it is clean/safe or infected.

Good question.
We are in the middle of upgrading our current virus scanning software but a big problem we've found is that some downloads (less than a dozen out of over 30,000 downloads) are being marked as containing viruses because virus and malware writers themselves have used some of the code here. We've been working with those authors to have them tweak their code (or just repackage) so that it no longer sets of virus alerts.
FWIW that particular download isn't being flagged by my virus checker.

I think it would be good to put a "Checked for viruses" banner or some message on the front page, since that info isn't displayed anywhere else.

Any big banners like that make me more likely to be suspicious. Along the lines of "Methinks they doth protest too much".

I have posted an article called File Searcher in C#[^] .
On April 8, I wanted to update the text and the source code of this article. So I wrote an email to submit@codeproject.com. The email had the subject "File Searcher in C# - Please update". It contained 2 attachments: "ViewHtml.aspx.htm" (an updated version of the html text) and "FileSearcher.zip" (the new source code). The email also contained the name of the article and its URL in the email body.
- But the article still has not been updated! What did I do wrong?

The big green text that appears at the top of the forums (ie: "Welcome to the Lounge", "C#", "Silverlight", "The Soapbox 2.0" etc), could these be made into links that jump to the first page of that forum?

The 'Refresh' link and the 'First' link in the forum itself aren't enough? Not sure what it would add.
I can do it, but to keep the style looking good I'd be breaking convention by keeping the link colour of the header as green, not blue, so the headers won't stand out as links.

A nice thing I saw recently was on Amazon. On the books page[^] when you mouse-over the Amazon logo in the top left it turns into a button. I can't put my finger on the whys and wherefores, but it just feels "right".

An idea could be to make the navigation map (whatever this is called) under the green title be a link to the first page.
What I mean is: In this forum for instance, under the green Site Bugs / Suggestion, you have the navigation location:
Home > Forums > Site Bugs / Suggestions
The string "Site Bugs / Suggestions" is a static string. Turn that into a link to the forum first page.

What exactly is a moderator? Rob said that, briefly, he had edit/delete power for everyone in the forum but it disappeared. If I had it, I never noticed it.
In all honesty I am not sure we need moderation - since elimination of voting from the Back Room, there's been one instance of a troll posting the same message nine or ten times (he was ignored) and the case of someone posting a harmful link - certainly something that could hapen in the public forums as easily as the Back Room and handled without any serious problems by reporting it to you.
However, if there must be such a thing, it is probably better that folks like me who think it is the ultimate of last resorts be vested. Only. . .right now I've got the title and nothing else. i.e. the emperor is feeling a draft. 
If you're reading this and asking what the back room is - move along, there's nothing for you here. These are not the droids you seek.

All moderators should have edit/delete rights. If it's disappeared then we snipped the wrong wire. I'll post a bug report.
As to whether or not you need it, I leave that in your hands. If you don't want to use it, don't.
