Isn't the error descriptive enough? How do you plan to use Windows application filestream in your webservice? Simply, you are trying the impossible.

I'm having a problem with login control.I have three pages called login,secret and register.I secured my secret page by using login control and if i request my secret page it redirect me to the login page that is fine to me.but problem is that if from here i click on the regiser link it does not direct to the register page untill i fill any correct enrty.if i fill correct login/password it direct me to the secret page.now if i come back to the login page and now click the register link it dirct me to the register page.thts fine now.
i have used createtext and createtexturl property of login control.please help me in this regard...

This means that only authenticated users will have access to your site, I believe that you are having access to LogIn.aspx because thats the default login page
You should add a folder (members or something) and add a deny users = "?" for that folder only either with a location element or a new web.config inside the members folder

my application is running fine if any authorized user enters.Prolem is that if i run my application and witout enter anything in user/password filds i click on register user link,it wont redirect me to register page.
if a enter a correct user in the fields and do login it goes to the secret page and now i come on login page and if now press the link register now it reirect me to register.aspx.
why it'snot running for the first time.?

Hi all,
I have a gridview with a list of names. My code allows me to select and highlight all names and save to database. However I want to be able to de-select a particular row; say I select all 100 Records but I later decide I don't want to select/save a particular record and I want to select only 99 Records.
For this I've added a LinkButton Control into a Template Field of the Gridview. I want when this button is clicked to change the color (de-select) this particular row.
However I am not able to get a reference to the row which I want to cancel. I know if I let the user click the autogenerated select button I can get a reference to it using (grdView.SelectedIndex) but I don't want to do this. I want to be able to click the 'cancel' button, get a reference to the corresponding row and change its background color. Anyway to do this? Thanks

What if you set the CommandName of your linkbutton to Select or Cancel??
Also, you can set the CommandArgument of the linkbutton to the index of the corresponding row (from code in the rowdatabound event), and on postbacks you can access this property from code to know the index of the row clicked

I'm actually using the select button for the meantime. If I will use the template linkbutton, I will go with the 2nd approach. On RowDataBound I will hook the linkbutton's CommandArgument to the Row Index and access this on the linkbutton's eventhandler.

I have quite a few files that I need to place up on the web. Once up there I need to allow people to download them and track what they download. Here is a small outline of what I need. What I was hoping was to get some advice on how to start this project. Is there something out there I could just buy? Anything here on this site I could use as a starter? Maybe just some feedback on direction would be great.
- User need to be able to create account on system
- Once logged in user should be able to see all files to download
- Some security might be nice on what they can and can not see
- User can click on link to download file which will track that they downloaded the file
- Would be nice if user could add some comments and scores for the files
- Basic admin tools to upload and remove files would be needed
This is really just a quick simple list of items that I need and gives you a good idea what I'm looking for. Any help would be great. Thank you.

I have a table with the following columns,
ID, ParentID, Section, FolderName, Description.
The ID is auto incremented by 1 every time an entry is added.
ParentID is set to 0 for the root level of navigation. If a row has a parent it uses the ParentID to refer to it. i.e. ParentID = 2, refers to ID 2.
This allows me to create a hierarchy for the navigation. Now what I want to do is autmatically create links depending on their ID, ParentID and Section.
If the section equals Technical and ParentID equals 0 then the root page will display all links which match this criteria, but how do I then create a link to the sub section so when a ParentID equals 2 the link on the page takes you to Section Technical and displays everything with a parentID of 2.
Not sure if I cam explaining myself all that well....if I get no replies I will know I havent!

I think recursion is what I need to use but I need some help with the way to structure it.
I have a MS SQL database table with the following columns:
ID, ParentID, Section, FolderName, Description.
ID is an auto-increment column.
ParentID is a number to show where in the menu structure it should be, i.e. 0 is root, 1 is the next level down, 2 is after that etc...
Section is text, i.e. Technical
FolderName is the link text
Description is just text which is displayed under the FolderName so people know what they will find if they click on the link
The issue I am having is trying to create a dynamic links page. What I want is if I navigate to the Technical section it will display all the Parents which have an ID of 0 and link to their child pages and when I click on the link I will get all Child links with descriptions, this would continue until there are no more links to display.
Any help with this would be very grateful.

Have access to the service user is authenticated on the site (exists token)
No token - no access.
This problem occurs if the user wants to receive external RSS clients, without authorization on the site.
