Since you're using the JDBC-ODBC bridge, the same code will work to connect to almost any database.
You just need to change your ODBC datasource connection.

Your best bet would be to have servlets or some other Java based backend (JSF for example) instead of connecting to the database directory from within JSF.
You can then use standard JDBC to connect to the database. If you want to connect to SQL Server, the jTDS driver is one of the best.

hello friends,
i am creating an application for an online local clinic management software where i want their registered patients to upload their ct or other medical images so that the doctor may visit their profiles online and see their reports.
since the medical images have a dcm format that stands for dicom(digital imaging and communication in medicine). since the software that i have to view these files is a desktop application, i want to create an api for the same that can be called on my application and the images be viewed online.
please suggest how do i create this api for the software, those of you who want to see what the software looks like may search for "DicomWorks" on Google.

Hi guys,
I'm currently working on a mobile phone application and need to save a file into the phone. However whenever I try using FileConnection, an exception will occur with the message "Application not authorized to access the restricted API". The FileConnection statement itself seems to be fine as I tried those from online examples, so I'm wondering what project settings I'll have to change to avoid this security issue. Please guide me with more details as I'm rather new to this, thanks!

Hi William, thanks for the link. However I tried the code on my phone (LG Secret) but the application hanged at the Java Powered screen. It worked when I tried compiling and running it on Java ME Platform SDK 3.0, Early Access though, you have any idea why?

It is probably down to the JME runtime. Check with LG if there is anything specific permissioning wise you need to do for the phone.

Applets are inheritly secured. You cannot execute process, perform I/O, database action with applets under nornal security manager settings. To do so, create your security manager and a policy file.

but will how will i tell the applet that the particular file is on the server file system not on the client.
and currently with the code above where does the applet look for the file under normal circumstances.

Further to the original answer.
An applet is sandboxed when running on the client. The runtime allows it to 'phone home', but AFAIK that is it. You cannot run an external process from an applet. Not at all. It's breaks the runtime. And then puppies die.

The idea is coming, so no hiding behind the door:
An 'applet' is mini-applicatation that can be inside a webbrowser.
An 'agglet' is an agile applet that can reproduce itself and move around; but still sandboxed.
A 'servlet' is a small server-side applicatation.
Now, you've got a servlet creating, psssible, an audio stream.
The stream is returned to the applet and the applet does what exactly?
BTW I would be very VERY suprised if the code, as written, is actually getting the audio stream.

well let say it is because --stdout switch makes the program called to send the wav file on the console instead of writing it to file now it is on the console but the problem is to send it to ahead and their is some problem can you identify it?

If that is really the case then it might work. What I would suggest is that you create the audio streams required on the server and feed them to the applet.
The applet can then play the audio; that I would need to google...

In my jsp page,two drop down box are there.
If i select from one drop down box any project id,then i want all module id
of that project id in second drop dwon box.and I want that from database.
Now i m able access the selected item from first drop down box using javascript,
but i want that item in scriptlet.
how can i access it?

i'm trying to develop a webservice in netbeans, and i created a folder called config and in it appconfig.xml to get the server ip,but the problem is when i try to read the xml file it says that file is not found, i have to put it in the glassfish\domain1\domains\.... folder, hoa can i say to get the file in the project folder.
