I would like to add a new row to a gridview using javascript. The code errors on the last line because I think the reference lgrd = null. How can I get this to work?

var tr = document.createElement("tr");
var cell1 = document.createElement("td");
var celln = document.createElement("td");
cell1.innerHTML = "hi";
celln.innerHTML = "hi";

If you really want to manipulate html using Javascript then why should you go for Gridview.. I would recommend to create your own HTML using Repeater, and then you will find this very easy to manipulate html using Javascript.
The code will add one Row in the table if lgrd holds the table which Gridview3 renders. IF you are sure that your page is not within any masterpage then use
document.getElementById('GridView3') directly. Actually the id of table is not assigned in the ClientId of a GridView Control.
So you cant use GridView3.ClientId

Hi,
i've been trying to create a website in asp that uses a connection to a sharepoint list so i can display the data as i please. here is my latest attempt that still does not work:

all i keep getting is error in iis log:
Cannot_start_your_application._The_workgroup_information_file_is_missing_or_opened_exclusively_by_another_user.
Can anyone help?

Hi all
I got one error when i am trying to get backup of database.
my error is:An exception of type 'Microsoft.SqlServer.Management.Smo.FailedOperationException' occurred in Microsoft.SqlServer.Smo.dll but was not handled in user code
The medium on device 'd:\' expires on Aug 21 2009 6:44:24:000PM and cannot be overwritten.
BACKUP DATABASE is terminating abnormally.
my code is:
ServerConnection connection = new ServerConnection(con);
Server sqlServer = new Server(connection);
sqlBackup.SqlBackup(sqlServer); //i got error on this line
con is object of sqlconnection

You are trying to overwrite a new backup to existing backup file for which expiration date is set.. and this is not advisable. You can try using init skip parameters in your backup command which will initialise the backup file. Firstly existing backup data will be removed and so your data expiration date check would be skipped. Google for init skip params.

I have a web based project with asp.net and vb.net.I want to get the hardware information of clients for example cpu,RAM,etc.and save this information in database,I dont want to do it with javascript or activeX control.I think it might be a way to do it through active directory..

Web is a secured environment. You are not accessing directly through LAN using active directory user account.
AFIK, it is impossible to get CPU and RAM info. The only info available to you from the client is what comes through Request Header.

Hi All,
I have string which is composed of non English characters(in Indian language). I copied it from some portal and pasted in notepad, while saving file i changed Encoding to UNICODE.
I display the text on webpage using
StreamReader srunicode = new StreamReader(@".....\Enc\Unicode.txt");
Response.Write(srunicode.ReadToEnd());
above code snippets gives expected result.
Now if I pick some part of string and assign to string variable
string sData = "प्रश्न";
Response.Write(sData);
shows some unreadable characters.
Do i need to convert the encoding format?
I tried adding below line in Head element
Still no effect.... Plz help

I think you need something more-Internationalization[^].
In case, if you do not have such a generic information then I am not sure of this.

Hello,
The below code returns the image-button that causes the post back. However it causes another problem. when I clicked one of the image_button (that is placed in datalist), the items of that datalist disappear.
Please, please help. I am dealing with this problem for a while now, and it is drawing me crazy.

onmouse over this is how we do it

i already know how to change the color of the rows,but calling a javascript function to get some other details about that row from the dataTable is somehow complex.
i can't pass that row to the function so that i can extract the fields and display them in textboxes .

i hav 3 textbox named:txtqty,txtproductprice,txttotalprice.
i want that when the cursor goes to txttotalprice.the txttotalprice
textbox get initialized by the value which is multiple of txtqty and txtproductprice.i hav used the textbox changed event of txttotalprice
like this:

then i hav coded it like this:

If you have no idea what the answer is, it's best to stay silent. Your code is not functionally different from his, and both suffer from the same basic problem.

This sort of thing gets posted EVERY day. Imagine if your page actually refreshed EVERY time you typed something ?
This event fires if you force a postback by other means. To do what you want, it needs to be done in javascript,
