ok - displaying a datagrid and using the ButtonColumn for the column. The text shows as a link and I want to control the display of the link. The gb is GridBody, gt is GridText and ac is AlignCenter. No matter what I play with in the CSS, it will not remove the link apparence in the datagrid. I have the .gt:link defined in the css, but no effect. Any ideas?
<asp:datagrid id="grdLibrary" CssClass="gbdr" Width="100%" AutoGenerateColumns="False"
AllowSorting="True" HorizontalAlign="Center" AllowPaging="True" PageSize="20" OnPageIndexChanged="grdLibrary_PageIndexChanged"
OnItemDataBound="grdLibrary_ItemDataBound" OnItemCommand="grdLibrary_ItemCommand" runat="server" >
<HeaderStyle CssClass="gh ght ac" />
<ItemStyle CssClass="gb gt ac" />
<AlternatingItemStyle CssClass="gba gt ac" />
<Columns>
<asp:ButtonColumn DataTextField="Title" HeaderText="Library" ButtonType="LinkButton" ItemStyle-Width="140px" HeaderStyle-HorizontalAlign="Center" ItemStyle-HorizontalAlign="Center" />

What if you define CSS for all links on the page ?

Hi
I have an asp.menu control on my form, and I have problem with the rollover.
When my mouse runs over the controlthe sub menu items appear from the side as expect and the little black arrows come out from the side to show those menu items, but the little black arrows do not all line up underneath one another after the mouse has rolled over.
Is this an error with the ASP.Menu control, and is there away to get them to all line up?
Thanks

Are you using CSS Style sheets with your menu control. Which ones do you have defined?
You best bet is to post the code for the asp:Menu items and all supporting tags (style) along with your style sheet.
You may want to ensure the width of the dynamic menu items are 100%, especially if using IE.
|
|
|
|

Yes, I am using CSS on the menu control.
The attributes I am setting are DynamicHoverStyle, DynamicSeletedStyle, DynamicMenuItemStyle and StaticHoverStyle. They have been set to 100%.
Sorry, I can't copy it across because it is on another machine.

I have tracked the problem down to StaticHoverStyle attribute in the Menu Control.
All I have in my menu control is as follows:
<asp:menu id="MenuList" runat="server" cssclass="MenuStyle" staticmenuitemstyle-cssclass="MenuStatic">
<dynamichoverstyle-cssclass="dhoverstyle">
<dynamicseletedstyle-cssclass="dselectedstyle">
<dynamicmenuitemstyle-cssclass"=dmistyle">
<statichoverstyle-cssclass="statichoverstyle">
On the CSS for StaticHoverStyle, I have:
background-color:Silver;
color:White;
What is happening is that my arrows all line up on page load, but when you rollover the menu items in the nav bar or menu control, the arrow does not reset to its original position. How, do you get it to reset after rollover with CSS, or in ASP.Net?
Thanks

This is a Common Problem Use Control Adapters i.e. Browser file
<!--
You can find existing browser definitions at
<windir>\Microsoft.NET\Framework\<ver>\CONFIG\Browsers
-->
<browsers>
<!----><browser refID="safari1plus">
<!----><controlAdapters>
<adapter controlType="System.Web.UI.WebControls.Menu" adapterType="" />
</controlAdapters>
</browser>

Sure, why not ?

Yep. I mean, I have nothing better to do, than to offer a free course, in a reasonably complex web development task, to someone who has no idea what they are doing, 'no matter how long it takes',
You need to get a grip. We are here to answer specific questions for people who have tried to do their own work. What you're describing, no-one is going to do. Look for an article on how to write what you want, if you must do this first, but really, you should buy a book or two on ASP.NET, AFTER working through a book or two on VB.NET. THEN you can learn about AJAX, and THEN you can start to think about writing chat clients.

This question has NOTHING to do with ASP.NET

You mean both the folders in the server ???
If so,
why dont you use File.Copy(path1,path2)

Here is the way.
using System.IO
Public Sub CopyDir(ByVal strSrc As String, ByVal strDest As String)
Dim dirInfo As New DirectoryInfo(strSrc)
Dim fsInfo As FileSystemInfo
If Not Directory.Exists(strDest) Then
Directory.CreateDirectory(strDest)
End If
For Each fsInfo In dirInfo.GetFileSystemInfos
Dim strDestFileName As String = Path.Combine(strDest, fsInfo.Name)
If TypeOf fsInfo Is FileInfo Then
File.Copy(fsInfo.FullName, strDestFileName, True)
'This will overwrite files that already exist
Else
CopyDir(fsInfo.FullName, strDestFileName)
End If
Next
End Sub
But,as CG suggested this has nothing to with ASP.NET. You should always ask the question in proper fourm to get the better answer.
Thanks !

I have a textbox in the masterpage, then I input some text and click one button to redirect to another page,
then the text in this textbox dispears, my question is that how to keep the text displayed even after redirect to annother page?
I find one solution by using ((TextBox)Master.FindControl("TextBox_my")).Text =text_input;
but later, I try to change the text and click the button again, the text in this textbox will be never changed and is always the original one.
anyone can tell me why and any other solutions?
thanks.

Well Seraph,
The only case that your textbox value doesnt appear to the server side may arise if you textbox is either Enabled = "false" or Readonly = "true"
1 In case of <asp:textbox Enabled="false"
The form that holds the textbox doesnt submit itself. So the textbox will always appear to contain ""(Empty string) in the server side.
2. In case of <asp:textbox ReadOnly="true"
The form submits the textbox, but always the original value which is used to create the form retains in the server side. Thus any changes to the control doesnt appear.
Check whether your textbox is enabled or Readonly.
To transmit text from one page to another you might use querystring. Just place in your address
yourpage.aspx?x=name&y=age
But if the text is coming from the database, I would rather recommend you to fetch it from database every time, because, as this is web, the user might paste the link directly to the address bar rather than coming from the previous page.

Q1. Is there any way to return more than one value as one or more responseText variable by just running one ajax function.
-------
Q2. What is the form of 'responseText'? I think it isn`t just a char string, because whenever i compre it by a distinct value using IF, IF always return false!! My question is how to compare 'responseText' with some values and then choose the best operation or function for next step?
ThnQ All!

No... XMLHttpRequest object can be used to get only one response at a time. If you want response from two pages come from the server, you need to create 2 XMLHttpRequest object and call send method yourself. You cannot use the send method until the ReadyState = 4 [or error occured] , which means the response is received.
** If you want to know that is it possible to send 2 values from the server in the same response.. !! You can... You can even merge the 2 response from the server and return the single response to one XMLHttpRequest to the client.

Well, regarding your responseText , it totally depends on the server response. If you just return "abcd" it will hold the same thing. Moreover responseText is purely html when a page is requested. Just put a breakpoint(or simply put an alert) to the point where ReadyState = 4 for your request, and see what is within it.
To ensure you always get what you send from the server.. (at least when you just sending a string from the HttpHandler ) use :
Response.Clear();
Response.Write("your static string content");
Response.End();
Hope you got everything...
