Hi everybody,

I have developed a page in asp.net (using vb) which is accessible over internet (public domain .com) working fine. This page facilitate end users to save, retrieve, and update existing information, and all information is saved over server database. Now my boss wants to access these information on Intranet (local site) but there is a "FIRE WALL" between Intranet and Internet. In the beginning I assumed that I could solve this issue through replication but later I have been told due to "FIRE WALL" I can't replicate data from Internet to Intranet.

MY question is how can I save and retrieve data in local and global database at the same time. Or replication is possible in this situation if it is possible, Or there are any other ways like serialization etc.. Please could you tell me how I can solve this issue, any link or any suggestion would be much appreciated.

I'm really sorry if this is not the right forum to ask this question.

hello frnds !
i m using the following code in my web application
for sending an E-mail

System.Web.Mail.MailMessage msg = new System.Web.Mail.MailMessage();
        msg.Subject = "Issue Report";
        msg.Body = "Submitted By: " + txtName.Text + "\n";
        msg.Body += txtComment.Text;
        msg.From = txtSender.Text;

        msg.To = txtReceiver.Text;

        if (chkPriority.Checked) msg.Priority = System.Web.Mail.MailPriority.High;

        System.Web.Mail.SmtpMail.SmtpServer = "localhost";
        System.Web.Mail.SmtpMail.Send(msg);

        lblResult.Text = "Message sent to SMTP service.";

but when i execute this code i get this error
The transport failed to connect to the server.
at the line

System.Web.Mail.SmtpMail.Send(msg);

please help me immediately

First of all, if you are using .Net 2.0 or higher tha it is preffered to use System.Net.Mail [^]space for implementing the mail functionality.

The most obvious reason for this error message is that either the SMTP does not exist or it is not properly configured.
Try to look for the other resons here[^].

System.Web.Mail.SmtpMail.SmtpServer = "localhost";

i have configured "localhost" to be a mail server.
"localhost" represents the name of the SMTP Virtual Server of IIS 5.1 on my computer.
I hope I m doing the right thing.

OK, well, some people just expect it to work. If localhost is working as a mail server in general, then you need to work out why it's not working from your application. As someone said, it's a config issue, not a code issue.

I've never configured a mail server, I've just used mail servers provided for me. I've never had a need for a mail server that would be satisfied by a local setup, I've always needed something more reliable.

You have to install AJAX Control Toolkit for that

i am using autocomplete extender with database. the text property for autocomplete extender is a concatenated string e.g First Name + '-' + Last Name

Now my problem is when i type first name it works fine but when i start typing last name nothing comes because the wildcard char is on first name
e.g where Firstname like 'abc%' (sql query)

now i want the wildcard on firstname + lastname

I hope u understand the problem

There are many ways to it. JavaScript - JQuery - AJAX Slide Show Extender. etc... Smile | :)

or you can also use one animated gif image too. Laugh | :laugh:
