im using fileupload to upload images.. written code in button click..
once i click the button image is displayong but the path is disappearing on its postback i want the path of image uploaded even after image is displayed...

I think we can not display the name of the file which is uploaded because property fileupload.filename is readonly and it can be set only if user browse the image

actually what im trying is to upload a image and display its thumbnail..
and then insert into into database..
but as once page is posted fileupload is empty there is no path to insert into database....
any other method....

Hi,
I have created a NumberBox Control usercontrol which is working fine.
in the numbox ,we have a feature for the number box.
i.e we are restricted the input based on the format.
Like if the format is (8,2),then the input is restricted beyond these locations.
i.e example:
12345678.88 :entry completly restricted ,
12345678 : enrty restricted till we enter a '.' (dot seperator),
.99 : entry restricted after the . dot seperator as the precesion is 2. but can enter before
dot seperator
this is working fine.
but the problem is when i select textbox and try to press the number, it is not clearing the numbers. which is a problem ..
i.e consider i enter 12345678.99 or .00 or 12345678 ,
and select the content it does not allow to clear when i enter a number, as the cursor position is in the end , and it has to restirict .
so is there any way i could aviod this .
i.e is there any way i could check in the script that if the data in textbox is selected or not ?
so based on which i could allow the input to be cleared.

The Best way is to fire a JavaScript Function on 'OnBlur' event of the TextBox Where you can check the formats .

but onblur is once it comes out of the textbox.
we are trying to restrict it based on the format during the time of input.
i.e based on the format input is restricted , i.e it is a kind of masking.
but only when i select and try to input , it does not clear as the cursor position is in the end.
is there any way i could checkh if it is selected based on which i could clear onslect

I am creating a ASP.NET site (C#) in Visual Studio.NET that is utlizing a grid view to pull data from a SQL DB. I am using the ASP.NET membership provider model for the website authentication. Access to the site is only allowed with the correct username and password.
I have a webform call Document Checklist. The webform is connected to a SQL table called document_checklist. I need the Document Checklist webform to display only those documents that the logged in user has not approved. I need for the user to click on the checkbox for those documents that he has approved and click the submit button to update the SQL DB. The SQL DB contains the following columns user_name, document_name, document_url date_added, date_approved and checkbox.
I have been trying to work throught this and am not certain how to proceed.
1. I am not certain how to query the SQL DB against my LoginName I have tried a few things, but am not able to capture the value of the LoginName and compare it to user_name value of teh SQL DB field. (The formatting of LoginName from ASP.NET and user_name from SQL DB is identical.)
2. I do not know how to utilze checkbox to update the SQL DB.
3. I do not know how to capture the date that the checkbox was checked and insert it into date_approved
The code is below. I am not certain how to list the CheckBox_Changed in the code behind.

Thank you for your response. I am not certain how I would use that to compare that value against the Username data field in SQL to only display values where loginname is equal to Username (in SQL).

Hi all,
I am trying to display 77000 records from Oracle Database to .NET DataGrid. So it is not displaying and getting Application Server Error.
Using OLEDB i did. Is there any way for solving this problem

Better approach is put a search option , when the user puts a Search Criteria the appropriate results would be displayed ,
Because you could not expect a user to move through all 77000 records

have you calculated the time taken to fetch the data in which back end you are using... because if it takes long time in database then you have to follow indexing... and in the database if the query returns the value soon then there is prolem in your code... Any how can you send your code for further clearance....

What do you mean by 'not accepted' ? Do you mean you have a client who wants to show 77000 records on one page of a website ? Can you think of a single website that shows this much information ? If not, how do you know it's possible, assuming it was at all advisable ?

Well, this is not an ASP.NET question really, it's a C# or VB.NET question. You can use an XMLDocument and the DOM to search your XML, or I believe you can use LINQ, if you're using 3.5

U cannot directly Query an XML Decument in ASP.Net 2.0 ,
However you need to parse them to check for the desired result ,
It got significantly easier with LINQ introduced ,
As per your requirement if you are using ASP.net 2.0 create an instance of XMLTextReader and read thru the document
