Seriously, I don't know that you can. I need it so often to save users from themselves I wouldn't want to do without it. I'd check into Group Policies as a first option. If you're trying to prevent users from rebooting, I know you can take that right away from them selectively, too. By the way, how did your previous post work out?

I don't think you can. Why do I think this? Because all the remote connection software I have ever used has had it's own special key combination to mimick a ctrl-alt-delete on the end computer. i.e. None of them could override the local computers ctrl-alt-delete catch.
There may be a way, but even if there is, probably not a good idea to do so. We need all the default, guarateed escape routes we can get

i dont have the rightes to see service on other computer of my network.
i have a simple network of two computer and the operating
system is XP on both computers.
i am able to share dives,internet fasilities on other network computer.

I recently set up my first XP network, and it was a major hassle! At least you have the Pro version; the Home edition is a lot like Windows 95 on saltpetre!
First off, create an Administrator account for yourself on both machines, and assign yourself a password. Then kill the Simple File Sharing - it sucks, and prevents you from using any of the traditional networking functions you're used to. When SFS is enabled (the default), all access to remote computers is done using the Guest account. The Guest account is disabled by default on all new installations, so nothing works. Once you change this setting, things will look a lot more familiar. I believe you do this from Windows Explorer, in the Folder Options function on the View tab. Uncheck the Use Simple File Sharing box.
This is supposed to restore the classic Windows security system and allow you to view and manage shares and services from any PC on your network. After you make these changes to both systems, reboot them both. All users will now have to have passwords, just like previous versions, and you should have a lot better success with your project. Try it, and post your results here. If it doesn't help, we'll try some other options!

Does WIN2000 server keep track of page access automatically? What information can you obtain for each site that is hosted? Thanks in advance.

Are you talking about having IIS on the box also ? If so IIS keeps a log file in C:\winnt\system32\logs (I think) . It should have all the information as for as who is accessing the site that your hosting . If your looking for something professional . Webtrends makes a nice product that can gives you a Web interface that shows how many people access your site but might be alittle pricey ....

Hi I would like to know about security in computers, I am using the FAT32 system on my pc, and would like to know if it's possible to save information onto the file allocation table - that isnt relevant to the file system on my hard drive. Also I'd like to know if it is possible to fool the computer into thinking there is a bad sector on the hard drive when infact that sector could contain information that is intact.
Does Anyone know?

i want to see services on other computer of the network.for that purpose i have created a program that will show these services.
i also have created a simple network of two
computers.both computers have xp_os installed on it.i have simple run the network card wizered.now i am able to share dives,internet fasilities on other network computer.
i have run this program on other network it will show services of each computers.
but problem is this when i want to see services on other computer i got an access denied error who to remove it.

I'm working on developing an NT/2000/XP service, and occasionally it runs loose. I can't stop it through the Services applet, so I try to kill the process directly. I get an Access Denied error. I've done it on other machines, but for some reason mine fails to kill it, so I have to reboot. It's a PITA when debugging. I have admin level access too - so I should be able to.
Anyone have any ideas?

I don't know if this will help, but I've just recently run into a similar problem while troubleshooting an entirely different issue. A while back I found and downloaded a product called "WhosLocking" that will identify dependent tasks that prevent me from shutting down a service. It's very handy and works great. What I didn't know until this week is that it can also shut down the dependent tasks and release the one you're trying to kill. No more "Access Denied" messages!!! It's freeware, so try Google to locate it.

Hi... dunno if this is a known problem.
My windows 2000 advanced (?!?) server hangs with some message. Let me tell somethig that I noted as peculiar. It hangs when I work with my local site with frames. At some point of time, IE will hang. After that if I close the IE window the windows crashes with the following m,essage...

If it crashes at random parts of the day memory might be the cause ... Any error messsages in the event viewer ?

I'm becoming paranoid - Windows hates me, I think. I'm trying to set up a secure FTP server to allow a few friends to post and download files that are too large to email. I'm on a Win2K Server with IIS 5.0 installed. I created domain user accounts for my friends. I created a directory for their files and gave it NTFS permissions of Full Control for domain users. In Internet Services Manager I mapped the directory as a virtual directory on my default FTP Server, and assigned Read and Write permissions. Anonymous logons are disabled. According to all the documentation I've read, this is all correct, and it should work perfectly.
When I attempt to connect as a domain user, the proper logon dialog appears requesting a user name and password. When I enter an existing domain user name and password, the logon fails! When I use my admin name and password, it works perfectly. WTF??? I've stopped and started the service repeatedly, thinking that might refresh the ACL for the target virtual directory, but that hasn't helped. Can anyone give me some clues on this? How hard can it be? I do have a firewall running - ZAP - but I've assigned FTP Server to the Trusted Zone, and it hasn't complained about access attempts. All IP addresses are enabled, too, for access to this server. I'm lost....
