Hi,
in order to provide line numbers, the EXE (and the DLL files it depends on) need the presence of the PDB files next to the files they relate to.
The actual situation and problem description is too vague to work on.

So I would have to deploy in Debug mode this that correct?
If my understanding is correct the only problem that deploying like would cause is that somethings would not be optimized is that a correct assumption.Humble Programmer

deploy a debug build and include the PDB file(s), that is what I recommend.

Just on a hunch, are you using the "default form instance" facility that VB.NET provides to help with upgrading VB6 apps? My guess is that there is some problem that is occurring the first time you use frmClientCommon1.
Did you do what the error message suggested and look at the InnerException? The inner exception should provide you with more useful information about what is going wrong.
Also, as a general tip, think about what is different between the dev environment and production environment. Different connection strings needed? Missing data files? Registry settings? Basically anything that might be set up differently.

Hi,
Im looking for a good VB article that i need to use in a renewal automation for an insurance product. Found the hands on labs for windows workflow (VB.net) edition and half of its in C#, which isn't a problem but i have a tight deadline to follow.

You, more than liekly, won't find one for such a specific requirement. Your best bet is to learn from other examples and write your own. C# is easily convertible to VB.NET, so you've already got examples. If you were looking for copy'n'paste code, you will not find any.

I'm not entirely sure what your question is here. If you are looking for a good introduction or overview of WF, then I would recommend the Ode To Code articles[^]. I found these very useful when I was trying to get my head around .NET WF. Again, the examples are C# but as someone else pointed out, it's not hard to translate it to VB.

I am wanting to make a desktop application to go along with my website. The idea is to display all media mainly movie files in the desktop application and be able to stream them. I will be using a MYSQL database and a login system which I have already setup.
Could anyone help me on how I would go about displaying and streaming media content. For example how adobe media player does it but of course on a much smaller scale.
Snippet codes or ways of doing it would be great please. If you give me snippet codes, just display the main points, then i can build on it.

You may also want to look into Window Media Encoder[^] (free!)
The Flash Video Encoder and Flash Media Server, as far as I know, only come in Flash Professional, which can be found in Adobes CS4 products: Web Standard, Production Premium, Design Premium, Web Premium and Master Collection. None of these are free.

You can use VB6 DLL's in .Net, but you have to ensure it is public class and public methods, as it is these that VB.net will call.
Is it on the same machine or across a network?------------------------------------

It is an Extension DLL or a Regular Dll , if an extension dll then it can be used for the Same language in which it is written  Best Regards,

What exactly is a "regular" Dll? And what is a "Extension" Dll? Please explain, this wording is strange to me.

Considering the original question (VB6.DLL) I would not think he was able to build an "extension" dll. and also not an "regular" dll. There is an codeproject article (I my memory is ok) about creating non-ActiveX Dlls with Vb6, but I would guess he talked about an ActiveX Dll. Nothing with your C++ stuff ...
And, in fact, I used VB6.DLL with C# and it works great.

VB6 can only build COM-based .DLL files (ActiveX). It cannot build a library, or extension, or anything else for that matter.
Well, that's mostly true anyway. You can coerce a library .DLL out of VB6, but you have to hack it together.

I have a splitbutton toolbar control that doesn't seem to work right.
The BackColor property can be set and read, but doesn't show up on the control itself. I have an image with transparency, and no matter which way I change the backcolor (programmatically or in the properties), it uses the regular control color. I even checked the designer code, and the color is there.
Anyway, I'm trying to implement the last chosen color for font and hiliting (the way Word/Wordpad does for their controls. Thought I'd try the background color first. Does anyone know of any code to alter a portion of the image itself?

Figured out how to alter an existing image. Pretty simple really.
This colors the last 4 lines of the image itself. This of course only works for a 16 x 16 image, but can easily be changed for different placement and image size.
Since I have 2 controls in 3 different places, I just do:

I have done alot of profiling and much reworking to my application but it is still too slow.
The place that seems to be the problem now is in InializeComponent().
The form is rather large with MANY controls but they are all needed because of the organization of the app.
Any suggestions are very welcome thank you.Humble Programmer
