Windows 7 isn't a server operating system. If your site is big enough to require state services it should be running on a server OS. Also depending on how you use the website you may be violating the license agreement for the desktop OS if you are serving a website for multiple users.

I am getting System.Web.HttpCompileException from my application randomnly. it gets fixed randomnly too. sometimes i refresh the IIS and it starts working, other times, i change timestamp on the control mentioned in exception and my application starts working. My code looks like:
Private utilityMethods As ASP.mywebsite_utilitymethods_ascx 'Declaration , This line is throwing error. Note this is global declaration of the reference
after the above line i create the object and use it to call methods in the utilitymethods control. The Products page has this declaration. Sometimes when i make changes to Products page and copy it to the testbox, this exception starts happening: Please not that line 55 is the declaration line that i have copied above

Please note that the application is working. This happens sometimes when i make changes to Products page. When this happens, i change timestamp on utility methods or radtabstip page and copy it over and it starts working. I know my statement is rediculous. This is a bug but i am not sure why its happening .
Please provide help and advise.

Quick question:
A department I am working for has asked that I come some functionality on their web site for their users. The site holds student data broken down by schools. The users with schools that have a large number of students want to be able to go from the page that lists all of their students to the student's information page and then back to the list starting where they left off. The list of students is presented in a gridview control, so I was wondering if there was a way I could save where the user was in the gridview so that when they finish looking at a student's information they can start back on the gridview from where they started from.

Oops. When I first clicked on it from google it worked without registration. Either use the cached version or look for one of the other of hundreds of articles about using the MaintainScrollPositionOnPostback directive.

Cookie
I've never used them, but I believe you could create a cookie with "key" information like the student ID so that when you come back to the Grid page, you could load it at the right location.
Session variable
Same idea as a cookie, but the implementation is a bit different
Pop-Up
You could make the Student Detail window appear as a new browser window, so they can see the student info in one window and the grid remains untouched in another window.
Just some ideas ...

Yeah, I tried the pop up idea, but the more I think about it I get fears of calls in the middle of the night about users not being able to use the site because they have turned off their pop up blocker. I'm using Session variables already, so that and cookies aren't a stretch for me.

It's easy enough, assuming you're creating links for each student in the RowDataBound event based on their ID number. Then simply add (Attributes.Add) a "name" property to each link also based on their ID, and append this anchor name to the "Back" link url on their student info page (....aspx#s123, for example)

This seems to be the easiest to add in my current situation, and an obvious no-brainer. If I had thought of this before spending days messing with javascript and jQuery pop ups then I would be closer to being finished. Thanks for the advice!

Some examples are using HeaderFooter tool which in mine is not showing like for example
HeaderFooter footer = new HeaderFooter(new Phrase("This is page: "), true);
But I am not getting HeaderFooter method in mine. I am using iTextSharp version 5.0.4.

iTextSharp is a port, there should be very little difference between the Java version and the C# version. I used the book the last time I did a project using iTextSharp and didn't run into any issues.

iTextSharp is working I guess. Well I can see my data in pdf format already. Just need to add header and footer in that. I am using iTextSharp in my project which is in asp.net using C#. Also I included iText.dll in my project but it doesn't seem like its working.

Yes. They are using HeaderFooter method in iText which in iTextSharp doesn't have. So is there any way to get header and footer plus page number without using HeaderFooter method ? Or If we are using HeaderFooter, which version of iTextSharp should we have to use ? The one I am using is version 5.0.4 and yet this one doesn't seem to have HeaderFooter method defined. It is giving error in mine saying assembly should be referenced..
