Hi,
If I now search via the Lounge-specific search-box for a keyword like "Nokia," I get results that are not sorted by date, and I don't see any facility to sort them by date.
Similarly, if I use the more "top-level" search box on CP, and click the radio-button to limit the search to "Messages," I also get the same list, and no ability to sort by date.
On a practical level how I experience this as a "deficit" is: let's say I want to make a statement on the Lounge about the recent MS Nokia deal: but, first, I want to see if there's already a recent thread that discusses that topic. Searching on "Nokia" gives me a total of 162 "hits," and that's a lot of pages to work through to try and see if there's a recent thread.
If there's a technique I'm missing here, that's already implemented, I eat these words, and humbly beg you to alert me to it.

At the top left of the search screen is an area "Search Options" with "Sort by" being the first option.

You've raised a big question, though: why did you miss it? I don't for a second think you're blind. Something about the UI made it a blind spot for you.
How can we improve it?

I too missed it, so much so that I hadn't used the search facility since it changed for this reason.
As to why it is a blindspot, I think it is because the search boxes are on the far right of the screen, it is not therefore entirely natural to go looking on the far left of the screen for ways of refining the search.

Well, that's a much appreciated "best possible light" view of my perceptual deficit 
What is strange to me, now, is that I seem to have a memory of seeing the search-result list of hits on "Nokia" in Lounge posts without any UI on the left side. But, I am unable to replicate that: so, I have to conclude, that was a "false memory" !
The principle of Occam's Razor suggests the simplest hypothesis: I didn't see the UI because I wasn't expecting it. Perhaps was "habituated" to not associating the left side graphics with search ? Or, maybe, I was a bit "wired" at the time, and just didn't look carefully ? Another, more dubious, hypothesis: I am "habituated" to seeing UI sort control of search results in other forms, or in other areas of a web page ?
Perhaps you are aware of the famous experiment where the subjects were shown a video of a basketball game; their expectations were "primed" by the experimentrs so they were focused on looking for certain things: more than half of the viewers of the video had no recall of a woman dressed in a gorilla suit running around, at a certain point, in the video.

I always love the Gorilla video.
However, in our case I think your memory is fine. What's happened is we've switched out our old, clunky search and replaced it with a completely new search that has more options than the old. These new options are presented in the left hand column instead of being hidden under a "Advanced search" slide-out panel.

After doing your search, look at the left hand side there is the search options orange panel, within it there is a sort by field, with 4 Date options and some others.

yep, something like that was posted around here a week or so ago. the mail carrier rejects zips based on file extensions (EXE, maybe others too), something gmail has been doing for a long time too.
Suggestion: rename the offending extension (e.g. double it up), add a note CP should undo it before publishing.
Note: publishing/editing through the article wizard still works as usual, as that is just a file upload, no mail involved.

Yes, it's lame. You can't even go into super secret squirrel settings and say "just give me the zip!". It does accept rar files, though. Because they are sooo much more secure.

We've just started a full revamp of the wizard. A list of all the things you dislike would be incredibly valuable at this point.
We're planning on providing a HTML mockup to our most prolific authors (and anyone who wishes to put in their 2c) so can I assume you'd have a spare 2c?

- Multi-file upload (so I can select a bunch of files at once, and click "upload" once).
- A "paste HTML" so I can just paste in my already formatted HTML without it being butchered afterward.
- When an image is uploaded, show the path I'd use when assigning the SRC of the IMG tag (you may already do this, it's been a while).
- A convenient of download of CSS and such we can use on our local to see what articles will look like before they're uploaded. Or maybe the LINK tag if you don't mind us remotely linking to the CSS.
- As part of the above download, perhaps include a masterpage so we can see the article in something that looks like CP's layout.
- I'd like to be able to edit articles after they have been approved by editors rather than have to send you an email. I think an editor botched one of my code snippets and I'd rather just edit my article really quick to fix it. The email approach is a pain (I have to wait until I get home and I have access to my email account, I have to look at the FAQ to look at proper procedures, and so on).
- When making edits, I'd like to have a box to type what I changed and then have the "list of changes" be created at the bottom of the article automatically by CP.
- Make all of the above as clear as possible and include it all on the same wizard page.

- Also, I'd like immediate feedback that my changes look ok. I haven't tried the new upload form, but I'm guessing it doesn't show all the changes immediately (a preview).

I think we can do something with that. Some notes:
1. We are always going to strip out formatting that will get in the way. Word markup, for instance, must die. We also format the pasted code. If there are specific instances where the submission wizard is screwing with HTML let us know and we'll slap[ it into shape.
2. Already there, and there's also an "insert" button.
3. The download template file[^] already has this.

Immediate meaning "not the preview button"? With regards to browser based WYSIWYG editors they are incredibly temperamental so, in some circumstances they are WYSIWYKG, where K = kinda.

The template file has what? I don't see any linked CSS or a masterpage that would allow me to view my article on my local machine as it would on Code Project.
By immediate, I just mean "I can click preview and I'll see a preview". As in, I don't like emailing articles and waiting for an editor to get to it before I can see my changes look as I'd like. Not sure if it still works this way, but last I checked I had to email my article in after an editor gets a hold of my article.
