Hi,
I have parent.aspx page which has a grid, the grid has column named Date.
When I double click on that column, the child.aspx page will pop-up.
The pop-up page is a MODAL DIALOG which is the "showModalDialog("child.aspx")".
Now, on that child.aspx dialog page,it has a calendar. If I will change the
date then click update button. The parent.aspx page should automatically refresh
without closing the child.aspx page, but it does not.
There is an example here in codeproject which is exactly the same on my problem
but it uses window.open not dialog. Behavior of window.open and dialog is not the
same. You cannot call the window.opener.document.forms(0).submit(), it will
generate error.
Please help.
Thanks.

In order to do that as you said you can use the opener method;
You can change the href of the parent page by => window.opener.location.href = {URL};
If that doesnt work you can try reloading the page. You can reload the page in two different ways.
This will return the form to its default values though => window.opener.location.reload(true);
If you want to preserve form data , use the history method.
window.opener.history.go(0);

first of all, you need to use pre tags around your code. That will make it
look like this and be far more readable to the people who might be willing to help.
Programming is a race between programmers trying to build bigger and better idiot proof programs, and the universe trying to build bigger and better idiots, so far... the universe is winning.

Here is the correct way to write question:

Dear all,
I have a solution with multiple class library and Asp.net projects.
I want to have a common configuration file for common configuration/settings for all those projects in my solution.
What is the best way to achieve this ? (i didn't find a good solution on the web yet ).
Thanks in advance.

Do you mean a common web.config for the ASP.NET projects, a common config file for the class libraries, or both?
If you are using source control, such as TFS, a single file could be included in multiple projects. On the file system you could also link the files to each project rather than each having their own.

Hi Mark,
I mean a common config file for both, Asp.net and class libraries. It is one application with different modules.

Doesn't everyone?
Please don't ask people to do your work for you, it's irritating for us and it won't help you. Do some Googling, ask for resources and work your way throught it.
If things get tough and you have a SPECIFIC problem you would like help with, ask the question here. I highly doubt anyone here will help you build something from scratch.
Start here[^]. When you get stuck on something specific, come back and ask for help.

Is it possible to do a URL rewriting for www.domain.com?userName=Jassim to jassim.domain.com or the only way is to create the sub domain on the DNS?

What you're looking for is HttpWebRequest and HttpWebResponse. These can be used to talk to websites using HTTP and download their content just the same way your browser does.
Here's an article right here on CodeProject[^]. Also some MSDN reference material here [^]and here[^].
Basically you will take the URL, send a HTTP GET request, the server will return the HTML of the webpage. You will need some string processing (generally called "HTML scraping" if you want to Google) to get the content you're after. Then any image locations you find in your HTML scraping, you will need to get their URLs and send HTTP GET requests for each to download the image data.
Make sense? So, keywords for Google:
HttpWebRequest
HttpWebResponse
HTML Scraping

Can we assign same domain name to multiple websites on same web server?
|
|
|
|
|
I am not sure what you are trying to achieve.
Even if you do so, say some how, which website you want to return when user will navigate to that website?
I could think of the following scenario you could do:
1. You can create different sub domains and assign each sub domains to each website.
2. You can also write your own ISAPI extension to redirect to different websites based on your need/logic on the same web server.
3. Easiest of all, assign domain to a default website, create a custom http handler, server.transfer to other site based on the your business logic.
Hope this will help.

You may have to use a CustomValidator rather than a RequiredFieldValidator.

Hello,
I have placed a website online and now I would like to be able to place search words so that google can find that site...
How can I add search words for this website in google please?
Thanks
|
|
|
|
|
This is taking the wrong approach to the problem. It's a common assumption that having search words will drive people towards your site in Google, but that's a misconception. What you need to do is investigate Search Engine Optimisation (SEO), which targets things like having quality inbound links and extremely well laid out pages with well written text.
|
|
|
|
|
|
The best way to get Google interested, is having links to your site on many other sites, already known to Google; it also may not be the easy way... Putting your website's URL in the relevant field of your CP profile is a small step in that direction.
Then there is http://www.google.com/addurl.html[^], however I always have had my doubts about it.
A lot has been said and written about SEO, and only some of it has been valid at some point in time; Google keeps improving its system to keep lousy material out, and give meaningful rankings to valuable material.
Warning: there has been a time where the (X)HTML of your page had to be exact for Google to scan you; if you claimed XHTML and made a mistake, your page got ignored for sure. this[^] is a good validator.
And whatever you try, be prepared to wait a typical 2 to 4 weeks before any result will show.
