I don't know whether you noted my late message[^] or not, but i still got the same error even when i applied your solution. This time i got the error on another computer !

My only other thought here is that it's a load issue, occurring either during high load times or during site updates. However, we haven't done a site update (before today's 2 updates) for nearly a week, so it seems load is the issue.
You're the only one who has reported this recently. Keep me posted and maybe a trend will appear.

I provided an answer to this question[^], however after posting it, I realized I had spelt a word wrong. I editted the answer to correct the single misspelled word. Along with the 10 points for authority, I now have another 2 points for editor. I thought the editting was based upon some percentage change. In this case I added one more character to the answer. Seems a bit to generous too me.

That's probably where most of mine came from too; although I did a few legit edits during the QA beta (for a while the buglist was maintained as a mass edited question).

Currently authors get awarded 1 point for having code downloaded and 5 for having an article bookmarked. By setting a bookmark the person has shown an interest in the article. However, since the source code for the article can now be viewed, without downloading it, shouldn't authors be rewarded for the same level of interest when someone makes the effort to actually download the code?

No. Most people bookmark in their browser not CP so very few are counted. (Almost) every download is logged and been awarded points. Bumping them to 5 points would not only skew articles with downloads as being enormously more valuable for rep than those without; but it would make downloads massively dominate every other source of reputation. The extreme example being Maunder who'd get ~1 million rep just for his article downloads.

Not all good articles have enough code, or even any at all, to justify a download.
Here're 5 examples from JSOP and POH (picked because I knew they had a bunch from looking at the impact of DLs on votes). They've both got several more that have good scores on 3/4 ratings but I was being choosy here.

 I totally agree.
Unfortunately, loud, incessant whining by some members has provoked the admins to reduce downloads to only 1 point. This is completely unfair to authors, and gives the lie to any claim that authors have priority on this site. It seems that in the rush to achieve some kind of status as a "social networking" site, the admins have found it inconvenient to do what's fair.

Wow.
Take a look at the number of ways and the vast quantity of points an author can and does earn. Take a look at the access and abilities top level authors are given over other types of points earned. Take a look at the homepage, the newsletters, the focus of the entire site. Consider the work that Sean, the other editors and the mentors put in to help authors on a personal level all day, every day, and the entire moderation are reporting system designed specifically to protect authors from being savaged by those who write first and think second.
