If I click on a Q&A Question, then return the to top level, the question I have just visited is not highlighted in any way.
(Used to go to a rather unflattering magenta-like colour).
A minor bug I know, but knowing which Q's you have already looked at is nice.

Just to clarify: if you click on a link in the QA list, then back out, the link is not purple, correct?
If you click on a link, then hit next a few times, then back out to the main list, the entries you viewed will not be marked purple. This can be fixed. However, if scenario 1 isn't working for you then I can't suggest much since we no longer actively support FF3.

This message[^], and its responses, raises an issue for me.
To what extent, if a message is posted on the wrong forum, and then gets 'clobbered,' should it 'bear along with it' its baggage of castigation and insult when, finally, it arrives in a place where it may be appropriate ?
This reminds me of how I felt about the next-door neighbor's dog, Milo (odd name for a Thai dog, but 'Milo' is a very popular drink here).
Milo, an eleven-year-old Cocker Spaniel (yes, every time I see a long-haired dog in Thailand, I think 'why ?'), was home to a whole passel of very large ticks. I'm not sure I've ever seen more ticks per square dog.
He was friendly, that Milo, and when he'd come over to check out my lawn and chase my cat when I left the gate open, I'd think to myself: should I treat his ticks, or attempt to talk to the owners about treating the ticks, or should I accept that the prime-directive, and Thai's intense sense of 'face,' and very different cultural views of what the westerner experiences as 'animal life,' 'domestic animals,' 'wild animals, and 'pets,'[1] should leave me accepting Milo 'as is.'
I should say 'as was,' because Milo died, and was buried in the neighbor's yard. I was invited over to view the freshly covered-over grave. I guess he took his ticks with him.
Should some messages, under some circumstances, have their 'ticks' removed ?

It's an excellent point and one I take into account when I move messages.
My overriding thought is that I should not remove messages that members have posted unless the messages breach the terms of use. This leaves me in a quandry because it means we either have a message in the wrong place and replies in the right place, or a message in the right place and replies that no longer make sense.
Maybe a marker could be added to the messages (he says, desperately thinking about how to do this and not muddy the waters even more) that explains that the message was moved from a different forum.

Hi Chris, yes, I appreciate the quandary this scenario present you with.
My own opinion, for what it's worth, is that comments ... after an initial comment ... which do nothing but elaborate on how the message has been posted in the wrong place are OT, and deserve to die when the 'whatever' is relocated to a place it may be appropriate.
However, once the 'whatever' is relocated, then, if its consistently down-voted as OT in its 'new home,' let it die. Or if whoever feels 'whatever' is a violation of TOS, let them post a message here.
I know I'd be comfortable with any of CP's esteemed 'tribal elders,' or staff, deleting such comments I may have made. I'd consider it a favor.

One option I have seen elsewhere (and like) is to;
a) move/clone the original message across to the new form, and leave in its place a place holder and redirect link to the new message, with the message saying it has been moved.
b) lock the original thread to prevent any more replies being added.
This means the message end up in the correct forum, and can be easily found by the original author if he came back to that forum looking for responses, all the baggage is left with the original under the locked thread, which of course is now dead and can't receive any more heat.
The only problem with this, is i someone has replied with a valid answer to the message when it was in the wrong forum, do you try and move it, leave it where it is etc. etc. as you obviously don't want to create an administrative nightmare.

Currently, when a message is moved, the link to the message will always send you to the correct forum, so if you have the original link (or email notification) you'll find it again. However, if browsing, you won't, so a placeholder may be of value there. However, if someone's posting programming questions, or soapbox material in the lounge, do we really want traces left over?

There was a period when we had a bug in our system that would, under high load scenarios, sometimes allow duplicate names to be used. This has since been fixed.

Agreed. He dumped answers on another question as well. I have deleted those, but the hamster's can check it out and proceed accordingly.
He has also posted a bunch of messages in the forums that are the same. I have voted to remove on all of those as well.
