Go to Features -> Who's Who, on the menu above, and you can then search for people by name. Also if you click on your name at the top right of this page you can see a link half way down in the form http://www.codeproject.com/Members/mregal[^], which is your CodeProject home page. However most people now have links which use their full name separated by a hyphen; thus to find Dave K you just need to use http://www.codeproject.com/Members/Dave-Kreskowiak. Once you have found someone's home page you can link to their messages/articles/tips etc and post a message to them.
However, the great majority of messages to specific people are posted in response to a message by that person; it is very rare to start a conversation direct with a specific person without using the forums.

Ah, got that now. Thank you very much for clearing up that little wrinkle. Yeah, I'm really used to typing with folks and then being able to respond to their comments, as well as, make a few of my own from time to time.
Well, that being resolved it appears that I will retype my article, find a mentor, and fortunately, there's no need to recode my cool little class. Hey, I've noticed that the hit count has gone way up on my pending article. Maybe someone will be able to give me some writing tips as well!

Hi, after a bit confusion I realized that only with sufficient editing rights I could change details of articles I post.
What do I need to do to get sufficient editing rights to edit my recent article and following articles?
Is it enough to ask here? Do I have to post many more messages, articles etc? You probably have this information written down but I could not find it.

For articles that editors have formatted and edited, we do not (as you found!) allow ad-hoc edits, because this could undo the work the editors have done. However, the editors are more than happy to update edited articles themselves, and the simplest way is to use the "Get Article's HTML" button on your article (top right), make your changes, and then submit that. That makes it super-easy for editors to update.
We are working on a new system that will allow you to edit directly.
Now, if you submit an article directly through the submission wizard then it remains editable by you until an editor notices it and formally edits it. Until that point you can do with it what you will.

I see. Yes that is the way I used to do it.
1) My question came up when I wanted to change the "introduction text" (see link in my top post) since that is not available in "Get Article's HTML"
The "high level" members had problem understanding what it was all about since they apparently had access to editing my article just by choosing "update your article".
So I figured if they could do it then maybe I could also get access, at least to my own article.
2) Part of why I am asking this is that I have previous experience in carefully formatted article HTML that get worse, not better, formatting after the editors are done with it (I.m.h.o)

We can give you access to your article, but that would mark your article as "unedited" at the top. The reason we don't allow author access once an article that has been "edited" by one of our editors is that Code Project has a consistent style our readers expect and enjoy. That said, we'd prefer to keep authors happy.
We can either:
a) change your article to "unedited" and give you full access
b) you can email us some changes you want made. There are a few authors who like their formatting a certain way, and I'd be glad to work with you to find that symbiosis. (the advantage I offer is, our article editor won't do everything you ask it to do, but I have a talent for coercing it)
Please let me know which you'd prefer.

Thank you for your offer. I will take you up on that (a)). I will not go crazy with the formatting but it would be nice to try to manage it myself. If the only disadvantage is a tag that says "unedited" then that is OK for me.

ok so I have some javascript that I am adding in pre block with lang="jscript".
the problem that I am running into is that my javascript also has html strings that are being worked with. so the formatting goes all crazy. 
is there a way that I can handle or is this corrected somehow when the article gets published?? I tried setting lang="HTML" but the formatting was still all wrong.

If its JavaScript within HTML then set the Lang as HTML,, not jscript. The coloriser will switch to the correct colorization with each change of language within the HTML

There is a known bug in the formatter where it cannot handle double slash (i think), and this upsets the formatter. That might account for HTML still showing wrong. As long as you use HTML as Chris said, then things will be fine, and if and when they fix the bug, the colours will sort themselves out.

The fake check scams and dating scams have been troubling people since a couple of decades. However, their methods and techniques have augmented with the rise of Internet and world economy. It takes several forms, but you surely can protect yourself from such frauds if you have the right knowledge for avoiding them. It is a widespread misapprehension that if your bank facilitates the accessibility of the funds/amount to you through a check, then the check is valid. However, in reality only because the bank makes the amount obtainable to you does not imply that that your bank has received that certain amount from the bank of the other party. Therefore, the check that you deposit in your account is actually your liability.
Check scammers take disadvantage of your misconceptions by requesting you to send certain amount to them as quickly as bank facilitates the availability of the funds to you. One common technique is by sending a counterfeit money order with an amount more than the obligated and then they would request you to send the difference through a cheque. This is common if you sell something on the Internet. However, check scams and scammers do not stop here. They employ several other ways too. Another such way is to offer the victim a home job such as help desk or data entry through the internet and then making an overpayment through a money order and then asking him/her for difference refunding.
There also exist the African russian scammers that are sent in most of the cases from Nigeria. The scam mail says that the reader will get millions and millions of pounds or dollars for providing them help to get out of their country. In the other version of this scam, it is mentioned that the sender is dying from cancer and before he/she dies, the person wants that the recipient of the email must get a part of his fortune in his exchange for helping orphans.
Always remember, it would be wise on your part to not to send money to any person until you verify with the bank that the check that you have received has cleared and was valid. When selling services and goods, ship them only after getting a confirmation that the check was cleared. In case you receive a check with more amounts of money, return the check and ask them to send a new check with the correct amount. In case of African scam mails, it is better to ignore them rather paying any heed and money and then lament.

Start with the guidelines[^] for more details. If your article has a sample application then you should post a full set of source files, including any control files required to build it (e.g. Visual Studio project and solution files), and maybe a working copy of the executable file.

I came across a Tip/Trick today that, while it works ... it does what it says it will do ... appears to me a poor example of concept, coding, etc.
There's an alternative method to achieve the same thing which is so much 'cleaner.'
On QA, I usually try to keep in mind that many questioners are relative newcomers, perhaps English is not their mother-tongue, and I try to make my points about their code, and my answers and/or my queries trying to figure out what they are asking: in a polite way (a way that happens to coincide nicely with the social norms for public behavior with people you are not intimate with of the culture I've lived in for ten years [Thailand]).
But, yes, let me "come clean" here: sure; sometimes I revert to being an obnoxious American yahoo
But, I wonder if there's any difference in custom/folkways/mores on Tips/Tricks: are you (all) a bit more directly critical ?
Perhaps it would be better to post an alternative Tip/Trick showing how to do the same thing in a more efficient way: or; would that deprive the original author of the "credit" they might deserve for being the "initiator" ?
Any thoughts ?
