Hello the standard RXTX (http://rxtx.qbang.org/[^]) communication library is not suitable because priory to occupying the specified port it lists all available ports is the system. This is time consuming because sometimes it delays up to 4 (four) minutes to list the ports.
Is there any other library which lets to assign (occupy) the specified port directly by giving its name without listing all the ports in the system?

The rxtx library code is available so you could always modify it. There might also be an option or execution path to avoid your problem area.

No, it does not depends on computer but on ports. I had installed bluetooth which occupied few ports for which listing (identifying: more precisely an instruction
CommPortIdentifier.getPortIdentifiers(); ) RXTX took around four minutes. But when I uninstalled bluetooth and manually deleted (from Device Manager) the ports, the newly installed port for communication with my microcontroller could be identified "in a moment".

So it is the bluetooth discovery process itself which is taking a long time.
Presumably you only intend to eliminate the discovery process after the port is initially configured. Also presumably you only allow fixed ports because otherwise without the discovery confirmation your application will fail in unexpected ways if the port disappears.

You might want to consider what happens if the user wants to change their email address.
Other than that your basic conceptual model is.
1. Create database table to store email address
2. Choose one of the following options
a. Store email as is, then search using a 'lower case' SQL function.
That function will be specific to your database.
b. Lower case the email then store it.
None of the above has anything to do really with Java - but it is all possible in java as well as a number of other languages.

Hello,
I have a java program that runs/looks fine in windows however the "window" or the area of the screen containing the program remains small when viewing on a mac. The small size is causing fields to be truncated. For example part of the date of birth is not visible. I have googled the issue and noticed that users of yahoo games are having the same issue with java and macs.
The reason I posted this in the java forums is I was wondering if there is any java code I can include to force the window to expand on a mac? The mac I am testing this on has the Lion os and java version (well apple's version) 634.
