Every time I go to start my weblog I made I get this....
Server Error in '/VS/WebLog' Application.<br />

Server cannot access application directory 'C:\Inetpub\wwwroot\VS\WebLog\'. The directory does not exist or is not accessible because of security settings.
I go and check the folder, and it says it's read-only so I uncheck it. But then I go and click on it again and it still says it's read only....?!?! All of the files on my hard drive are like this....
I dont really remember if they were all read only before....
this all happened after I installed the new .net server on my other hard drive...
how do I fix this???

I have serveral remote servers that I would like to streamline setting up Visual Studio Projects and applications on, but I'm having trouble. Now I'm familar with the basics of IIS administration. I've setup .NET applications before on my localhost and on remotes servers with no bells or whistles and thought everything was a "go". Then I encountered this situation. The site is a subdomain, which I don't think is an issue at all. But the IP address is shared among several subdomains. Same IP but I need different web applications, one for each subdomain.
Does anyone have a suggestion for this one?

My mom has both of these drives on her new Dell Dimension 8250. The DVD works flawlessly in all aspects - has since she got it. But she says that the CD drive has never worked, ever. I just checked, and surely enough, there is no CD-RW drive shown under My Computer. (Yes, it is physically there, and yes, everything is plugged in correctly). Does anyone know how to get XP to recognize this 2nd CD drive? The bios settings are correct, and I thought that XP was great at recognizing CD drives. Perhaps there is something wrong with the hardware...
Anyway, any input would be appreciated.

If you have another computer there, move the CD-RW to that computer and see if it's recognized there. If not, return it.

It may be jumpers, dodgy cables...

1. Sometimes when people install new drives, they forget to change the slave/master jumper on the back of the drives. Only one can be master, one slave.
2. Check the System control panel under hardware, for any conflict indicators (yellow ! ).
3. My XP Pro box recognizes the DVD-ROM on installation, but requires the driver cd installed to recognize the DVD burner drive.

What does the device manager say? Does it show the drive listed there?
also If you boot off a 98 cd can you access the drive??

Hi
I am suddenly getting this error on pages  . The error seems intermitant in that the page giving the error sometimes renders fine and on other times falls over. Its also on other pages.
My research on the internet came up with the fact that this error is usually caused by not closing ASP objects with SET = myObject = Nothing, but all the scripts used close the objects after thier use.
Is there anything else that could be causing this or a solution? Microsofts site as usual came up with nothing helpful.

It could be an indication that you're trying to open a recordset that is already opened. Being intermittent leads me to think it may be session related, or that some previous page failed to close myOutputRS before the current page tries to open it. What scope does the rs have, and is it by chance defined (and possibly opened)in a SSI file?

The at command-line interface doesn't support that, but you can do that thru the Explorer interface. (Control panel-Scheduled tasks) Create a new task, and in its properties you can set it to repeat every 5 minutes.

Does anyone know to permanently set the toolbar down in the systray? Every time I boot up the computer re-checks the Language Bar and I have to un-check it, such a pain. Any ideas?

I've a Win2k machine on a LAN. My machine is showing Scheduled Task in the shared area of my computer when accessed from some other computer on the network. How do I remove this Schedueled Task folder from the share area of my computer.

I was so tempted to try this earlier on my XP Pro box, but I was working and had too much stuff open (too lazy to shut it all down). Now, I'm at home, so I figured why not give it a shot.
It didn't crash XP Pro, much to my disdain.  It just prints "HuHung up" and keeps flashing. The link you posted earlier about the Ctrl+Scroll Lock or whatever was pretty cool though.

Ok, this is really starting to annoy me...
Anybody know if it's possible to tell WinVerifyTrust() which certificate chain/store to use?
I really need to "block out" the system supplied/existing certificates.

I am running IE version 6.0.2600.0000, and I keep getting the "Do you want to debug?" error box when I encounter a script error. I've gone into Tools/Internet Options/Advanced and checked to "Disable Script Debugging" check box many times now, it always works for a short while and then the problem reappears. What is going on? Obviously something is resetting the registry key, does anyone hear have any insight into this maddening problem?

I've recently tried Trans2k, and sBernhard Hammer's Transparency program here on codeproject. I don't know what the deal is but whenever I try to make a window transparent, the window will not stay still. It constantly "blinks", as if refreshing itself. Rendering it basically useless. I never had this problem when I used transparency with 2k months ago. Anyone know what the problem might be and/or how this can be fixed?
