When someone post a replay to article author's message, author gets two e-mail notification, which is obviously unnecessary.

I am sure you are aware that your email subscription system is spamming? Why don't you do something about it?
You have a site which looks professional and obviously has a lot of quality info to offer and intially I subscribed to your mailing list without hesitation, thinking that people who created a site designed to act as an info hub for techies and coders will know how to organize their mailing list to be non invasive.
Such disappointment. After I received the first load of emails I thought "ok this is definitely more than I need, so I'll just unsubscribe, no problem". So far I have unsibscribed (clicked the link at the bottom of your emails) AT LEAST 3 TIMES. I thought that maybe some time was needed for the system to pick up the changes but it has over 2 months now, YET I KEEP GETTING EMAILS from codeproject.com.
If there is no way to fix this problem please delete my account, and I mean DELETE as in real sql delete... obviously you have difficulties setting up your systems properly so if you can not stop the spam please just delete my account. At present the nuisance of having to clean up your spam mail far exceeds the benefits of being a member.

Our mail list does not spam and you can unsubscribe from your emails via your settings page.
On the unsubscribe page it allows your to unsubscribe from the specific maillist you wish to unsubscribe from, and has a clear link under that that states "To unsubscribe from other mailouts please log in and visit your Settings Page".
I have gone to your settings page and ensured you are not subscribed to any mail lists.

I notice on the C# Forum, that more messages seem to "fit this profile:"
1. the poster is a relative newcomer to CP
2. the poster is obviously at a "larval" stage in learning to use C#, and obviously has not bothered to search either CP, or the web, on the "how do I do this" topic they are posting on.
3. the poster is obviously not interested in discussing the C# language, and its structure, and idiosyncrasies.
4. the poster gets a "quick fix" from somebody smart, like OriginalGriff, and then they're back again, with another "how do I do this."
In other words, these are the same type of posts/questions you will find on Q&A for C#.
Let me raise a hypothetical question: should someone at a certain rep level be able to move a question from the C# forum to Q&A ?
Which may be just a variation on asking what the C# forum is really meant for.

As someone who is self taught, I understand where they may be coming from. I know that Q&A is the proper place for trivial questions, but for greater understanding the individual forums are better for more detailed discussion.
On the subject of search, getting good results from Google/Bing is a skill that I had to learn the hard way. Maybe a sticky message at the top of all programming forums with instructions for cp search. Also it would be great if one of the pro's put together a comprehensive how to for search.

Why should Q&A be "the proper place for trivial questions," but a forum devoted to the C# language become a place filling up with trivial questions ?
You are mis-interpreting my words to mean that I somehow "look down" on newcomers to programming: if you look at my often detailed answers, which include tested C# code, and "strategic suggestions," I think you'll note that I am very friendly, and patient, with newcomers. I've spent thirteen years of my later adult life living in countries where English was not the "mother tongue," and have deep experience in education, as teacher, and "professional student."
I too, am self-taught, but I had mentoring, including books, and generous responses here on CP over the years, which enabled me to "stand on the shoulders of giants" in my own humble way.
The inference in your remarks that I don't appreciate the efforts of the many very gifted people who reply to questions of all types on CP, is unwarranted.
My motivation in making this post is not to cast aspersions on anyone, but to raise what I think is the valid issue of what the roles of CP Forums and Q&A are, which is, I believe, totally appropriate to this forum.
Please do not interpret my raising this issue as either a complaint, or a signal of some personal animus.

If you look at the navigation menu, it states "Quick Answers" so it is implied.

I never meant to imply that at all. I respect all the members of this site (You included) that contribute in any way (This site has taught Me almost all I know about programming.). And yes your comments are detailed.
On a side note, Are a writer? I only ask after reading some of Your Lounge posts.

By quoting you, asking, rhetorically, "why should Q&A be a place for trivial questions" in contrast to the statement about (in my perceptions) the C# discussion forum filling up with highly specific technical questions, that get quick-fix answers, I was using irony to make a point. I probably should have made that point more directly
I did not (and, would not) use the word "trivial" about any question posted here; you introduced that word into the conversation.
" 'Are' you a writer;" well, "yes:" in the sense that I have been involved in creative writing all my life, since age nine, or so (that's sixty years), and "yes," in the sense I have done a lot of technical writing.
But, I was also a programmer, who had his "fifteen minutes of fame" at Adobe back in the late bronze-age, when the "commercial religion" of "Desktop Publishing" was stolen from the Old God (Xerox PARC), and re-branded at Apple, Adobe, Aldus, Canon, etc. Which of course led to the defeat of the great powers LinoType-MonoType, whose swords of lead, antimony, and tin, and pathetic first-generation laser weapons, were no match for the power of re-cycled bronze and Madison Avenue advertising, and for an army composed of a genration of gadget-crazed technophiles for whom the "meaning of life" revolved around Cupertino, California.

- What's to discuss; they are merely asking a question.
- If it's the person (or persons) I'm thinking about, they are obviously making an effort on their own so deserve some help. Those who make no effort tend to get short shrift.

I just noticed the membership count drop 461 in the space of a page reload and no it wasn't caching this time. I wonder is there an account purge underway or is the universe just leaking again?
...
And now 15 minutes later they are back. Maybe it was some sort of caching artifact after all although a rather persistent one or perhaps someone just plugged the leak.

Servers synchronization is sometimes a bit delayed, you can have differences of one/two days depending on which server you land.
Reloading page several times usually makes the work.

I used bookmarks extensively, but after i had added 25 bookmarks i couldn't add further bookmarks.
Is this a bug or a feature?

I have more than 25 on the first page of my bookmarks. Maybe you are seeing a cached copy .

Was just going to ask this question my self, I seem to have an 8 page limit or I just can't find an item I bookmarked.
There have been several items that I have booked marked something and go back later and don't see them.
So I re bookmark them. go back later and can't find them again.
I bookmarked a reference to VB.NET wrappers for much of the Windows API[^]
but just can not find it in my bookmarks.
Is there a way to just search your bookmarks?
or possibly download a list of them ?
Possibly I could build a Bookmark searcher where you download your book mark list and then do what you want with the data, unless somone already has one.

I think that just as you are required to with articles, downvoting posts should require the down-voter to leave a comment saying why.
I think that if you don't want to rate something well you should have to put your name against it. I have no problem telling people why I vote against something and why; I believe that it also gives people a chance to improve things and get their vote changed.

When posting on controversial topics, it's best to use a temporary account - that way you can participate in the discussion without risking your main account getting attacked (which may not look good if a prospective employer looks at your profile and notices so many down-voted comments). Or just avoid participating in that sort of discussion.

That is caused by a load issue. It has been discussed here many times, and the cure is to wait a while (it usually comes back after about 30-45 min for me, your mileage may vary).

I was under the impression that only editors, protectors, and administrators could edit other member's articles. So I was suprised that I was able to access another member's article and actually edit it. I did not click the submit button and actually modify the the article so I do not know what would have happened if I had.
