I think Leslie Valiant[^] is more appropriate, given the topic of the site.

I was given the tip-off yesterday about the Productivity Power Tools extension for VS2010+. A work colleague installed it for me and what a fine bit of work it is. It probably has more features than I need but the one I find the best is the addition of a file list accordion which replaces the sometimes awkward tabs in the IDE. You can also pin the files in the accordion. You lose some screen estate but not so much you notice. If you haven't come across it before I really recommend it.

I can only agree with that.
Also the search/replace window takes way less space than the old search and the colorisation makes it way easier to see what you were looking for. The Solution Navigator is a nice feature too (ClassView including members where you can directly navigate to)

Yep. I wouldn't want to use VS without it any more than I would want to be without ReSharper.
Moving the list of open files into a vertical sidebar instead of a horizontal scroll list and the color coded scroll bar are both worth the price of admission (even if the latter, and the R# markup bar don't align with each other if you have anything collapsed). Solution navigator is great too. Unlike Nicholas, the alternate find option is the only feature I've disabled. I detest popup UI elements; and use the standard find and replace dialog docked in the same location as the properties panel.

I've disabled this as well, though I think you're stuck with it in VS 2012.
In VS 2010 I have an extension (toolbar buttons) that lets me see in advance whether I am currently in case-sensitive match or whole word match mode. This doesn't play well with the power tools find.

I've done very little with 2012 since my last round of project starts predated when we got R#er upgrades; and no one wanted to change versions in midstream. I've sitll got the old dialog stacked with properties; but the stupid popup is catching Ctrl-F/H for me too.
I just Googled it; Ctrl-Shift-F goes to the old find dialog, and you can always remap keys[^] if you want to.

Thanks for that. I have VS Express at home but haven't used it much. I'll try that next time.

If you leave a pack of butter on the cooling radiator and the heating comes on then move the butter BEFORE it melts and dribbles all over the floor.

It's got to be useful for something, and that is about it for me - apart from being a lockable cage where I can put food to cool so our Feline Flea Factory can't get it...

Me no have microwave; well not here anyway.
I do however have a huge pot of babgulyasleves what I cooked last night. It should be nicely matured now and I shall partake of a bowl in around 'as soon as it's heated' minutes.

If you share your hostel room with a bunch of German grannies that - as soon as they enter - turn down the heating, open the windows wide to let the cold in, then ask you if this is ok with you, then you put your camera that got drenched by the rough weather when snapping pictures with, of and for the California Dreamies on the only safe space to let it dry which happens to be the radiator, and then - while you are out (with said dreamies) - that guy from Berlin you already met on the island mountain weeks ago gets the last bunk in said room, closing the windows and turning up the heating to the maximum without removing previously drenched camera from the radiator so said camera gets heated up well touchability, you will find out that surprisingly, after about a week of practically not working at all, your camera starts working again, with minor issues but generally still making decent photos.
That's what you learn when travelling.

I did a similar clever once. I had adjusted my watch and not secured the winder correctly, thus rendering it non-waterproof. Then I took a shower.
The watch was placed on a small soft pad and then onto the radiator. After a few days it dried out perfectly and works well keeping good time. The standard price for a service including 'strip and clean' is £350; I think I saved a few bob there.

I once had a six disk DVD player - big bugger it were, it had a rotating platter with six DVD spaces in it and it were dead handy to change disks from the comfort of me armchair.
Then we moved in here, and guess who put it on the windowsill? Nice deep windowsills we have here, a good foot from the edge to the window itself, nice and secure, even if six inches or so or the player hung over the edge. And all was well.
Then it got cooler, and guess who turned the heating on?
And who came down in the morning to find said player looking like it was designed by the master, Dali, himself?
And had to spend ages trying to hack the molten remains apart to work out what disks he had left in it overnight?

They just announced that OPCW has received the prize. In the UK, Malala Yousafzai was widely tipped which proves you can't trust the bookies. We'll never know how they decide who gets what as the selection process is shrouded in secrecy but personally I'd have liked to see her share the prize. Both are worthy recipients.
