I've found Nokia's DVLUP[^] site to be a great WP8 dev-community site that encourages wpdevs to create new apps & games & improve them by rewarding devs with prizes - gift cards, smartphones, tablets, advertising, xbox 360, and other cool stuff. This month Nokia added 20 countries in which DVLUP is now available. If yours is one of them, I recommend checking it out.

I will check that out when I get home from work. Ironically the website (at least the front page) does not seem very user friendly when I view it on my Lumia 920.

Meh, a programming language is a programming language (admittedly, IIRC, you have to manage your stack manually in Lua, but that's not that bad). I'd be more worried about learning the scriptable program's API.

I agree.
Lua is easy to learn, fast and powerful. Just remember that it is a loosely typed language.(That will bite you if you are not careful.)

There's 20 minutes until the closing bell and $MSFT is still up over 6% on the day - have I entered an alternate universe?

It was up 5+% last night (after hours) after their earnings announcement.

Yeah - I just can't believe it held for the whole day - finished up $2.01 (+5.96%). Maybe Wall Street is finally warming-up to Microsoft.

You're basically equating price with value. Here @CP we might see clearly where MS is heading, but for the average Joe it still is a 'safe bet'.

Well, actually, I'm equating Microsoft's stock price with whether I've entered an alternate universe, but I see your point.

My favorite isn't in the list.
It started with a warning that water has been detected in the hard drive. Then it announced that it was going to spin dry the disk. A series of clicks through the onboard speaker made a noise like a washing machine spinning up, held for a few seconds, then slowed to a stop. Finally it announced that the spin cycle was complete, and the water was gone, problem solved.

I'm editing some CSS and have
.content-item {
-webkit-transition: all linear 0.1s;
-moz-transition: all linear 0.1s;
-o-transition: all linear 0.1s;
transition: all linear 0.1s;
}
I wanted to change "all" to "opacity" so started editing the last (standard CSS) item. As I was editing the other entries for the browser specific versions were automatically updated:
.research .content-item {
-webkit-transition: opacity linear 0.1s;
-moz-transition: opacity linear 0.1s;
-o-transition: opacity linear 0.1s;
transition: opacity linear 0.1s;
}
That's so cool.

My favorite so far has been updating the closing tag whenever you update the start tag. Also, I thought you were using LESS. Shouldn't you be using a mix-in to generate all the different browser prefixes?
|
|
|
|
|
Yep - got a mixin for this but was mucking around with the CSS directly for some faster testing.
Probably why I've not actually seen this feature before today!

Is that a VS feature? I thought it was part of Mads Kristensen's Web Essentials[^] extension.

Mads Kristensen is a Program Manager on the Web Platforms & Tools team for VS.
Web Essentials is their testing platform. When the features graduate they become a part of VS.

I'm aware of that, but I didn't think this particular feature had graduated yet.

So, around about an hour ago I took my phone of charge. It rang and found myself talking to an agent *ptewee* about a job *woohoo*. An hour later, I get off the phone and it needs charging again.
Oh, I also have three voice mails from more agencies. Nothing for weeks then four at once.
