That's not really true. Watches are a terrible investment, trust me I'm a collector. Rolexes hold value well due to the fact that they hold down production to keep supply low and they market them as the rich person's watch (they aren't, that's Patek), but they barely keep up with inflation as an investment. If you don't believe me, look at what vintage Rolexes cost now, compare to the original sale value, and adjust for inflation.

Also, Rolexes only impress people who don't know watches and can't afford a Rolex. They are the watch upper middle class people buy for status, and they only impress other middle class people who want to look like they have money. But they are great watches aside from inflated prices and ridiculous marketing.
