Shouldn't the sign have "that we know of" at the bottom? Just saying: for all we know there are whole planets made of chocolate out there. That'd make for a hell of a soft and rather delicious landing (as long as it was made from Cadbury's chocolate  ).

When it comes to chocolate we can dismiss gravity; in any case any such planet, of course, is made up of extremely dense chocolate with a biscuit core and some even have raisins and peanuts scattered at random on the surface. They have a vaguely sweet atmosphere, usually with an odor of honey.

I already started down that path and learned that I don't like iOS. I'm now hoping Qt's iOS support is up to snuff by the time I get around to the port. (Or I hire someone who likes iOS and Macs and let him or her deal with it.)

I did. It was tempting, but .NET simply doesn't give the performance I need, it's pricy, and there are other issues. I may try again once I get the prototype running with Qt. (For all it's weirdness, Qt has been way more productive than .NET and gives me performance I need.) In the end, I may just get everything running on Qt, keep the core and rewrite the UI components in Objective-C. The iPad requirement may also vanish.

Best of luck in your mission. I was put off by the cost of Xamarin but given the choice, I'd rather sell my house, my wife and my earthly possesions than use that awful pile of shite Apple call Xcode. No wonder they give it away for free; who'd want to pay a single cent for it?

I almost quit my job a few weeks ago over that issue and the rather extreme restrictions Apple has concerning the AppStore and selling stuff. Hence my desire to get Qt to work and/or hire an Apple fan-boy to take care of that side of things.

Never used eVC or eVB before? Microsoft used to give away the development tools for Windows CE as well. The same goes for the android developer tools as well.
With the exception of Microsoft most of the other platform developers have a toolset they will give you for free. I remember when the Visual tools (before visual studio) first came out and you could get Visual C++ for like $50. This is when Microsoft was trying so hard to compete with Borland and its IDE.

I have not had all the issues that you have talked about. The biggest obstacle that I ran into was the basic format of Objective-C code. Once I got over that stumbling block I have rather enjoyed it.
Not a fan of Xamarin only because I don't like the idea of paying for something that in theory with some work on my part I can get for free. Last I checked but in order for Xamarin to work with iOS (maybe OSX as well) you still needed XCode for the screen development.
I have used Qt in the past so I would love to read an article about that.
Can you submit to the app store if you have developed your app in Qt??
