The ANC won in the end, so he was a Freedom Fighter battling against an Oppressive and Brutal Regime.
If they had lost, then he would have been a Terrorist trying to overthrow the Legitimate Government against the wishes of the People. (Just as the pro-apartheid government claimed when they were still in power.)
But they didn't lose - the oppressive regime did. Thankfully.

Yes, actually. There are numerous accounts in American history where revolutionary soldiers, acting on orders from their commanders, blew up depots where the British had been storing gunpowder resulting in much personal and property "collateral damage."
