I've money saved up for Glass but unfortunately I'm in the UK and can't afford to spend $1500 on them. Seriously wish I could get my hands on a pair though, I've got a lot of dreams and a lot of passionate for those Google Specs.... one day though... one day

He posted an invite to get Google Glass, and apparently got flamed for it. Seemed like a legit offer to his fellow geeks, not really sure why he got dinged.

FYI: I didn't perceive your message as spam either.

I thought it was a nice offer, not spam.
However, where's the CP button for, "Google wants how much for Glass???"

Errrm. What did I miss? I've only been out for a couple of hours.

"Any "meet up", link to an article/QA/Message, request for review, etc I will mark as SPAM."
No, you are too intelligent and reasonable a person to carry out acts of revenge.
Why not raise the issue of the removal of your post ... a post that seems entirely reasonable to me ... on the CP "Buggs and Suggs" Forum ?

Trouble is that since the downvote button was removed, the curmudgeons who used to downvote things they didn't like or personally want seem to resort to "abuse" voting instead.
Not saying we should have downvoting back - if anything there are users who shouldn't be allowed to use it in QA either - just we need some balance on the abuse votes.

|

We should have downvoting back, I never agreed with removing it and it's important to be able to mark disapproval on a lower level than voting abuse (which is the only way to give a 1 right now so it's abused).

The best way to restore downvoting would be to only allow downvotes to people who have a nearly equal number of upvotes already. This will prevent those people who were just running around downvoting all the time. It will restore balance in that if you really hate something you have to really like something else to balance your outlook. Obviously a few points of slack will allow a limited amount of up and down voting without the need for an exact balance as should be normal usage.
To make the maths easier have an possible upvote of 1, 2 or 3 with a corresponding downvote of -1, -2 or -3.
Perhaps only go to 1 and 2 up and down as -1 = "I dislike that", -2 = "I really hate that" along with 1 = "I like that", 2 = "I really love that".

Or better, have a downvote affect your reputation points!
That'd discourage 'em!

Now to be honest, I quite like Argos (in fact I like all the Greek Islands), but really, this is a bit much!

Having been away for a while, I've noticed that "Elephanting" is a fairly common adjective these days. It doesn't take much imagination to read it in context and understand the meaning, but that's one I've never come across before. Is it a homegrown CP turn of phrase, or does it come from a particular region / culture?
My curiosity isn't entirely idle. There's a chapter in Have Fun where I have an example of a sculptor and his apprentice chiseling a giant stone elephant in the back yard. I'm just hoping it doesn't get the book banned by the naughty word filters in the UK.

Michael Martin started it all and it caught on.
The E word now replaces the F word, Whilst Sunshine is the new term we use for the C word.

Not at all surprising that Michael is involved.

Your use of the words 'homegrown', 'curiosity', and 'sculptor' seem to indicate you are entirely unfamiliar with British slang. Basically, your entire post is an admission of some very odd ball sexual preferences - no more eggplants for you, you big pervert!
