It's sad that there are only choices in the vote that are either of materialistic kind or regards one's career. To me, all I wanted for Christmas is spend some time with the people that are close to me, have some nice food, a nice time and talk, and forget about all the struggle in the world for a few days - and thankfully that's just what I got. We stopped to exchange presents except for the kids in the family, and a little something for everyone that comes heartfelt. I know, with all this propensity to consume these days, this sounds a little cheesy, and it's not that I don't like any of the tech stuff in the list or would reject a better job offer. It's just that it's not as important to me. There's way too much of all these gadgets in everyone's life already, and way too much time spent working instead of living, that it has become way too easy to lose focus on what's really important in life.
Please think about the poor, underpaid guys at Amazon etc. when doing your online shopping and whether you really want to support the employment practices of such companies by using their services. Please think about the poor mining people that probably died to bring down the resources so that you can replace your Smartphone every year, even though the one from three years ago still works. Please think about the impact on the environment before you turn the ignition to drive somewhere where you could also walk, go by bike, or take the bus. Please think about all of that and try to figure out how it could be done better. Try to remember the implications of your actions and lifestyle, even when it's easier to not change and not think about it.

My workload is reasonable, I like my coworkers and immediate supervisors, most of my projects are interesting; but... I'm working for a contractor whose headcount has been shrinking for several years; and the job stability related stress is getting to be frustrating and the rising share of money sucked up by fixed costs has started to squeeze everything else.
