But yeah, 2022 there will still be PL/1 developers happily clumping along somewhere. And VB6, and TDD, and whatever replaces TDD as THE. ONE. TRUE. WAY. Saying it will be a requirement for employment is just a licence to have people make fun of him.

the problem with this prediction is that it doesn't take into account all of the "dead" programming languages that will most likely still be churning.
I doubt that COBOL developers will be embracing the concept of TDD.

If he had said, "If you're working on mainstream apps (probably just web apps), TDD will be required by 2022" I'd feel less like mocking him.

Assuming you're a Gmail user you'll be aware that there's rarely a need to type out an email address in full. Once a contact is in your address book, you can start typing a name into the To field and suggestions will pop up as you type. But what about those people whose email address you don’t actually have? You may have connected with someone on Google+ but start to type out an email and you suddenly realize you don’t have an address to send to. D'oh! However a new feature that's rolling out could see this frustration becoming a thing of the past. "Lovely spam! Wonderful spam!"
