Ah, a target allocation radar. Way better than a search radar, you can shoot back. 
I remember when I made my service, our radars were brand new and we still had engineers from Ericsson running around doing whatever on the Equipment.
This was at the time of the first gulf war, and what was on everybodys mind then was stealth planes and how super they were supposed to be according to all news.
So I asked one of the engineers, "Tyhe F-117 is supposed to have a radar cross section of a Robin, will that be a problem for us?"
The engineer laughed out loud and told me that "When you see a Robin that does 400 knots, you shoot it down". That was an eye opener that I remembered when they had one shot down over Bosnia.

Its nice to have a lady's opinion
The Mrs seems to like it so far, but the kids dislike it for the very reason you mentioned. I guess they'll get accustomed to it eventually. Assuming I don't get fed up first and get rid of it

I've never gone more than two weeks without shaving because of the itching. Last time I got up at half two in the morning to shave because it was annoying me so much.

Judging by my profile picture I'm competent when it comes to having a beard - It itches at the start, but you'll learn to ignore it and it will soon be gone. My longest attempt was about one month, and then I got pissed off because I needed to shave it back to shape - Tedious work which I don't like. You will soon be used to it and not want to shave it anymore.

In my experience, it only itches when it's too short. Stick with it for a while longer.
What is this talk of release? I do not release software. My software escapes leaving a bloody trail of designers and quality assurance people in its wake.

It itches when it's bristly, when it gets a bit longer you can treat it like on-top hair and as long as you keep it washed properly it shouldn't itch any more than your scalp does.

That isn't very reassuring since my scalp itches too (only when it's dry)

It stops itching after a bit; if you want some extra comfort, try a good shampoo on your cheeks.

After 30 years of a beard (short cropped), I shaved under my mouth leaving large mutton chops. However, I do not shave often so it grows in. Does not itch. It does grow slow. I have known guy that have longer five o'clock shadow than I have in two days.

After much fussing, I managed to get Ubuntu with the Unity desktop installed, and here I am in a FireFox browser posting on CP!
I'll write an article on this soon. You won't believe (or maybe you will) the number of websites and tries that I have gone through to get a desktop up and running. Not that it's actually necessary (or even desired) -- it was more an exercise of "it should be able to do this!"
Short story:
Get a good (and large, 8GB or >) uSD card
Put Ubuntu 12.04.2 on it
Boot and install ubuntu-desktop (takes about 4 hours)
Also managed to get a 128GB SSD (on USB) mounted. Now I'm trying to move "home" onto the SSD but encountering a few issues.
Fun stuff, goofing around with all this.
Good thing is, it's ultimately for a client's project for some custom controller stuff, so obviously won't need a desktop environment. We're still debating what to use for handling the web services (Ruby, JavaScript / node.js, etc)

That's cool. I've got a couple server processes that I have running on full blown desktop server machines. All they're doing is polling feeds and moving data to a NAS. I've been wondering about scaling down to something like this.
Noob question: How does a BeagleBone compare with something like a Raspberry Pi?

The BBB has better specs, I believe. You might want to check out odroid[^] Quad core!

That odroid looks like a neat piece of kit. But I'm happy to sacrifice performance for market share on this. I only need the thing to run a couple perl scripts.

Is it any better than running on Raspberry Pi? I recall that was quite a horror and not worth the bother
