Nasa is a major player in space science, so when a team from the agency this week presents evidence that "impossible" microwave thrusters seem to work, something strange is definitely going on. Either the results are completely wrong, or Nasa has confirmed a major breakthrough in space propulsion. A microwave-based propulsion system? I think the lunch area is about to get more interesting

Unlike the mostly standards-based ‘desktop' web, many modern mobile web pages were designed and built for iOS and the iPhone. What seems more interesting to me is the possibility of adjusting the display to legally-blind-and-with-lots-of-weird-problems, donning a pair of glasses that inflict the same problems; and being able to use a nearly impossible to shoulder surf laptop in public.

That alone is a good enough reason to avoid Java, particularly on the client.
(Of course, the fact that most remote exploits on Windows nowadays relate to Java and Flash is another).

We've also got some airgapped networks that we weren't authorized to update until late last year/early this year; at which point we discovered that they weren't covered by the standard MS site license
