Not quite. How many scientific 'facts' are debunked by new research?
Science has been wrong in the past, is wrong in the present and will be wrong in the future.
But I do believe they're getting closer to 'the' truth.
It's an OO world.

I'm pretty sure that's not what he meant: to me it appears that he is alluding to proven science and not hypotheses.

Any scientist (I know many) will tell you the more they learn on a topic the more they begin to realize how little they actually know. Science is only proven up until any one underlying assumption gives way.
All a good scientist can hope for is to arrive at a repeatable process which yields consistent results. This is generally accepted as proof - until disproven.
