Just saw in the news that there will be a voting on the 18th this month about the future of Scotland.
All you Scotlanders here - what would you say? Yes or no?

I am currently in the no side.
There are no real answers to any of the serious questions. Currency, Pensions, Health Service, Oil Revenue, council Tax, Localised Income Tax, Euro, Borders etc. etc. etc.
Currently, voting is like asking someone to jump from a plane at 35000 feet, If you select yes, you have no turning back and you will be given a backpack, now the backpack might or might not have a parachute in it, if it does, there is also no guarantee it will work.

It's a total waste of time and (British) money. If the Scottish Nationalists were serious they would have some credible answers to how they are actually going to manage a country that will have almost no revenue after independence. Unfortunately the argument is based on the premise that they are ruled by the (hated) English, and have no say in their own affairs, so it appeals to the "little Scotlander" mentality.

Technically, it was the British (not the English) that occupied a quarter of the world. The Scottish have played a very significant role in the British military.

Psst, it was a union not an invasion. Also, if anyone was the usurper, it was the Scots taking over the English crown and not the t'other way. To be fair the vote should be in England & Wales to leave Scotland.

I think the correct term you are looking for is purchase - at least of their parliament. Or bribe, bribe is closer.
You'll note that, practically as soon as the Crowns were unified, the King'o'Scotland moved south of the border to dryer and less deep-fried climes.

You should see the situation more from an open source point of view. If nobody has the guts you end up with giants producing sh*tty products. BTW they have Scots Whiskey what else do you need ?

It would be a fallacy according to what Alex Salmond wants.
1) He would share a currency with rUK, rather than having an independent currency.
2) He would re-enter the EU and cede power to a federalist Brussels.
Doesn't sound very independent to me.
