I was wondering how a useless article Merge Two Class Data in C#[^] has votes of 1 or 5, no votes of 2, 3 or 4. More surprisingly there are several votes of 5 while I think there should be none. I was so surprised that I checked the profile of one of those who had voted 5 and it was really strange. Check his messages from here[^]. There are hundreds of 5 votes with the same message: "Nice...". Now that could be his style, but look at the timestamps. He is almost always giving the votes a few times in a row within a minute or two. No human can read articles so fast so it must be a bot. There is defintely some misuse with that user account (Humayun Kabir Mamun)[^].

Why I take this so personally? Because I really like codeproject and want to trust the voting system. I read the mentioned article because of several votes of 5 and it was complete waste of time.

You can open more tabs with articles, read them and close the ones you don't like. Then when done, vote the remaining ones and... hopla. You are bot.

I am not saying anything about the quality of the votes or the articles, I just wanted to point out, that the timestamps might be not an accurate "judging tool"

On the other hand, I agree with you. Many of his votes don't make much sense.

Edit: I have taken a look to his profile and history. OK, he is giving 5 to many articles that don't really deserve them, but I don't think he is rep. hunting. 6+ years here and still about 3,5k reputation. The answers in the QA are mostly legitime and trying to help.

I don't think he is to be reported.

Well, in any case the orginal article Merge Two Class Data in C#[^] voting behaviour is still strange. There are 9 votes at the moment. It seems that every time there is a new vote of 1 there is also a new vote of 5.

Socket puppets to compensate?

The one votes are from people with low rep, so it is easy to balance with new accounts.

Edit:
My 1-vote droped the average from 3.29 to 2.45, at the moment there are 10 votes (5x 5s and 5x 1s). If a new 5 comes fast then I would start to think the author is cheating, he gets notifications about the activity in the article and tries to blow the note of the tip.

But the only we can do is speculate. The only ones who can spot the cheat (if it really exists) are the hamsters

Now there are 11 votes, one 5-vote after your 1-vote. I don't know how much time there was between your 1-vote and the 5-vote, but the pattern seems suspicious.
