Can I have your old job?
If I have to listen to the old wazzocks wittering on about nonsense in this office any more I'm going to start hurting people.

It is a female name, I know, I have a cousin of that name... I never knew marijuana is referred to it, maybe that is why OP tried to ignore writing the full form.

I am curious... How many of you use either or both GoToMeeting/TeamViewer?
I use GTM daily. Recently, their changes + Patch Tuesday took me offline with video driver issues.
Their g2comm starts consuming all of my CPU (I have a nice Precision M6600, 32GB, dual SSDs, and
and AMD Radeon 6900M... This machine barely gets to 15% while running Oracle and a few other processes, plus my IDEs)...
Anyways, I use TeamViewer because I have a MacMini I remote into (on my desktop, no monitor), as I am playing in that environment. I started using TeamViewer with some clients, because it bypasses the stupid UAC issues that GTM makes the customer click on (GTM does not run as Admin, and will not show me the screens or let me click on them).
Again, I am curious about others who are using either of these technologies, and any issues, especially with CPU and Display Drivers... Or any other insight...
GTM is great for meetings, and people without Audio who need to dial in.
TV is great when I am already on the phone with someone, or know they have audio on their PC,
and I need to really do support type stuff...
Thanks,
Kirk Out!

Hi Kirk, I regularly use GoToAssist and TeamViewer for remote desktop support. I only use the TeamViewer (free version) for certain clients who either already have it installed, or where GTA fails or is blocked. I was looking at switching the company entirely to TV since it works really well, and I thought I could avoid the recurring subscription fees for GTA...then I discovered that TV's 'one-time fee' is only good for the current version. Prices for upgrades, released every 12-18 months keep TV in on par price-wise with GTA.
That said, I have discovered the same annoying behavior (blacked out screens for UAC prompts) in GTA. (major suckage when the end user is not paying attn./on the phone) One other rare issue with GTA is losing input control in desktop sharing...it takes the end user clicking into the GT window to make it active again.
When we first started using GTA, I was annoyed that they wanted my users to download the g2ax installer from their website, so I snagged one and hosted it on our website. The only drawback is that it always shows an error message on the client end regarding an invalid session, but at least it's predictable, and aside from the UAC thing, GTA has been quite good compared to our previous provider. (not sure what they are called these days)
TV is awesome when the other user already has it. Often, I am connected with a customer in < 10 seconds. I have not experienced any negative issues with TV. Also, I use it to remote into my office workstation from the field. It has always worked great! I must admit, they do make me feel a bit guilty with the 'Thanks for playing fair!' comment.
Gotta go! Time for a remote now!

Hi kmoorevs,
Thanks for confirming where I am at.
I actually paid in December 2014 for TV. GTM for 6+ years.
Honestly, if TV Meeting mode had better Audio support, I would probably switch.
It does load faster and it has the nice feature of Screen Swapping (great in a
pair programming mode where you can switch who is seeing whose screen).
I was hoping to stay on Version 10 of TV for a couple of years. If I have to
keep buying upgrades, I will not be very happy.
Oh, let me share that GTM support uses GTA... And when GTA was running, my GTM
cpu did not spike. LMAO. I had to get them on the GTM, without GTA running, in order
to show them the problem. This costs me a couple of hours, because 2 previous support
calls ended in everything working fine. After they hung up, it did it again... Always
with a client, too... Ughh... We discovered it the last time because I wanted to show
her the problem before she changed anything, and it would not do it. Kinda like the
car never making the noise when the mechanic drives it.
