What we know now, for example, is that Microsoft will continue to ship Internet Explorer 10 for those who still need some of its legacy features like Active X. As both IE10-11 and 'Spartan' use the same engine I'm sure it was extremely hard to solve that 'fallback' problem...

1. Read the article behind the link on 'new rendering engine' - there is no talk of new rendering engine there
2. The 'new' engine is a new version (fork) of Trident (search for it and you will find a lot of about it)
3. I asked the question one who actually works on it - it is Trident with new features...

If you wan't to know how much MS really hates IE6, the fact that Windows 10's legacy browser will have compatibility modes for IE11, IE10, IE9, IE8, IE7, and IE5.5 really says it all.

Apple (deservedly) gets loads of crap every time they run their latest OS or device through Jobs' reality distortion field and spout this kind of BS at a conference or press event.
Looks like Microsoft is trying to give Apple a run for their money.

Free software is great, but the crapware that usually comes along with it on downloading sites is awful. There are ways to skip the crapware, though. "Freedom isn't free"

Does how to geek (the source of that article) play games with publication dates? The date on the bottom claims it was published 2 days ago; but their screenshot for what Google gives when searching for "vlc download" looks at lot worse than what I get. Theirs is topped by 3 crap bundler ads; mine only has one and immediately below it is a big card (of the sort Google uses when it's trying to answer your query directly instead of only providing search results) with a giant VLC logo and a link VLC's official download page.
