ES File Explorer is awesome, but be aware it is a Chinese company you are allowing to access your phone and passwords (if you use its facilities for doing so).
|
|
|
|
|
Yes, because a Chinese company really wants to look at every westerner in minute detail, intruding on and studying every iota of information about their lives and habits...
No, wait...
It's the Western governments that are doing that!
Hell, stop using Western stuff immediately! Chinese kit is safer, because they don't give a damn about you!
In case you're wondering, racism has no place in CP.

You are the one who jumped to racist conclusions - it wasn't even on my mind.

Right.
(Chinese = untrustworthy) != racist
Remind me to tell my wife that it's not racist of me to describe her and her people as untrustworthy.
I'll do it right after we've finished discussing the causes of the last few global recessions.

Absolutely right without the sarcasm. I was not thinking racist thoughts, and your arrogance to insist I was is disgusting.
I have seen the 'live' map of cyber-attacks, and witnessed the big spats between China and the US. The fact that ES File Explorer made it somewhat difficult to find out its base of operations raises a red flag, and it is worth being aware of. I never said "Don't use it!", and I did say it is "awesome". If you want to continue your childish name calling, I'll lower my opinion of you and sign out.

David O'Neil wrote: I have seen the 'live' map of cyber-attacks ... Which, up until a few years ago, came almost exclusively from the United States.
What's happened is two things:
0. A lot of Chinese students are now doing what a lot of American students used to do, with the same idiocy of youth. It's a "catching up" thing, so most of them will soon catch up with the idea that it's a waste of their time -- the same as most American students did.
1. The parameters used to collect metrics have been changed. You don't need to be an Einstein to guess why.
David O'Neil wrote: The fact that ES File Explorer made it somewhat difficult to find out its base of operations raises a red flag The Chinese flag is red, yes, because red is the colour of happiness and celebration, for more than half the population of the planet.
But all such alleged secrecy would tell me is that they have solid Internet security, and make it very hard for their servers to be hacked -- IF it were true.
They have a web-site, they have e-mail addresses, they're on FB, and they're on twitter. Everything is perfectly traceable.
What do you want from a couple of devs working in their mum's garage? Their bank details?
David O'Neil wrote: I never said "Don't use it!", and I did say it is "awesome". And you followed that up with a statement that could only be described as racist.
There is absolutely no other way to describe the statement. It was a direct accusation of untrustworthiness, aimed at an entire race.
You obviously missed this bit of advice: http://www.codeproject.com/Lounge.aspx?msg=5005354#xx5005354xx[^].
And now "the guy you're talking to" is telling you not to talk about his wife (who is a Chinese engineer) like that again.
Unless you're taking the piss, that is. Taking the piss is fine; the Chinese live for it.

Where is that mentioned in the rules?
If you have an important point to make, don't try to be subtle or clever. Use a pile driver. Hit the point once. Then come back and hit it again. Then hit it a third time - a tremendous whack.

I saw a man who wasn't there
He wasn't there again today
He must be from the CIA

But am I me? Or is someone else typing this. There isn't even a photo that the 11/12 CPians who have met me face to face could verify is or isn't me.

Two month old blood stains still around... really classy people there.
Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, waging all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?

have you never seen CSI they can see minute traces of blood from decades earlier, its a bit like how they can "zoom in" on a single pixel and "enhance the image" to reveal vital info (car plate, text on a mobile or even the murderers face)
