I like internet social media but I am opinionated and getting tired of BS behavior of so called administrators on “popular” site which for obvious reasons will remain unmentioned. But it starts with first letter of an alphabet.
While participating in a discussion, one of the censors contributed to the resolution of the problem by making the following comment:

That would be quite amusing. Student A demonstrates. His works. Student B demonstrates. Hers works. Doaa-Sawaftah demonstrates. Hers doesn't work. Explanation? "GPS doesn't work in Palestine". Whole class bursts out laughing.""
I found this offensive and called such comment as coming from “pathetic moron” and “poking his nose into what is not his business”.
Of course my comment was deleted within an hour and I have been banned from posting there ever since. Reason - constant whining!
OK, big deal.
The real kicker – every time I access the site ( I have ongoing project I am helping with) my banishment date keeps moving further away at random intervals.
Talking about petty “little napoleon” of “Some like it hot” fame.
I guess I better not attend any bithday party decorated with big birthday cake.

If you look really, really hard, you'll see that there are other web-sites on the Internet.
You cannot actually fight someone who is present as just a stream of characters in a forum, so don't bother trying.
If someone has prevented you from expressing your opinion, then he's a wanker, and -- as long as you do not also suppress other people's opinions -- you are the better man, so let him continue to be a wanker in your (mathematical) relationship, and you continue to be the better man.
If you really can't let it go, find out who is the site's actual owner (mods are normally just subscribers, who are given a little power, and usually let it go to their heads), and put in a complaint.
Don't write a lenghty diatribe to complain, though; just something like:
"[link] is what I was banned for. I think [mod's name] is out of control, and giving the site a bad reputation"

Reminds me of the old joke:
A well known rich businessman's wife broke her hip. The businessman got the best bone surgeon in town to do the operation. The operation consisted of lining up the broken hip and putting in a screw to secure it. The operation went fine, and the doctor sent the business man a fee for his services of $50,000. The businessman was outraged at the cost, and sent the doctor a letter demanding an itemized list of the costs. The doctor sent back a list with two things:
1 screw $ 1
Knowing how to put it in $49,999
TOTAL $50,000
The businessman never argued.

Yeah, that's why people climb Everest.
No-one is stupid enough to try to make a career out of climbing Everest, though.
There must be thirty easier to implement and far, far easier to maintain ways of doing anything that can be done with a regex.
The only reason people use it is snooty bragging rights, and that's not a good reason for doing anything as part of your profession.
And yes, I have used regex extensively, but I still rank it as only slightly less ridiculous than brainfuck.

Indeed! For most of the cases, a few if-else blocks and it's done. But regexes* are fun, although I don't use them too often. And it's fun to watch (and then help) people (with no or little clue about regexes*) when they are asked to write one.
* Again, not sure if that's the correct plural form.

I was always amazed how at this job I'm still around a few hundred euros per line of code after 3 years; I'm pretty sure I've written more lines in Word and Excel. I miss writing code, somewhat, but I've learned so much more by debugging. The most important is that I really miss debugging in Visual Studio  ; loading 20 meg binaries over JTAG and sometimes not having a working debugger is a pain, a fun pain.
Not my fault they use me to put out fires.
