I use the CDONTS dll and have had no problems at all. I know it comes with Windows 2000 but not XP, but I think it's easy to get hold of. Here is a really simple e-mail script and here is a password tutorial.

I didn't know that CDO isn't included in XP! There must be some equivalent, though - the Collaboration Data Objects are fundamental parts of Office.

They have replaced CDONTS.dll with something called CDOSYS.dll, which I think is an updated version. There are various code samples from Google for using it.

I use ASP , ADO
I have an access file in a password protected directory.. when I use the connection string :
strCon="Data source=" & server.MapPath("FilePath/FileName.mdb") & "; Provider=Microsoft.jet.oledb.4.0;Jet OLEDB:Database Password=MYPASS;"
I get the error :
Microsoft JET Database Engine error '80004005'
The Microsoft Jet database engine cannot open the file 'FilePath/FileName.mdb'. It is already opened exclusively by another user, or you need permission to view its data.
How can I include the Directory username and password in the connection string ?

Hi,
I have a form, with different fields. It happens that the form fields have same name repeating for 5 times (fields generated from function) like this
textfield1 txtf
submitbutton
textfield2 txtf
submitbutton
textfield3 txtf
submitbutton
textfield4 txtf
submitbutton.
Now the problem is, when I try to retrive the value as Request.Form ("txtf"), it gives values like this.....
, , , txtval
I mean the text values are appended by , between them. Is there a method to remove it, by maintaining same field names??

I did in a different way.... by combing the fields in a mnner that it serves the same purpose.. and made them acceptale by the PM

We don't develop the whole web using Dreamweaver  -- but we do use it for much of our stuff at work in static HTML and classic ASP.

Just design and template pages are designed with Macromedia Dreamweaver and from then on, the IDEs like Visual Studio etc take over for ASP etc.

No I use a program called html kit from chami it can be customized to anythig you like to use to develop. it has a lot of plugins and it lets you develop the code unlike frontpage.

I have a web site, written in ASP, where a page needs to be updated regularly by a non-technical person. I want to end up with a system whereby the user will complete the information in a text file and upload it to the web server, where the ASP file reads it and outputs the information.
After reading various tutorials on doing this I can see that the process and scripting is quite basic. I have tried using the following script created by Chris Maunder on this site:-

As far as I can tell, this script should work. However, when I try to open the ASP document (hosted on IIS on my laptop, which is running Win XP Professional), the browser just hangs ? The status bar message say's it is opening test.asp, but it just sit's there and nothing happens ?
I have tested other ASP files on my version of IIS to ensure ASP is installed and working, and every file that doesn't try to access a text file works fine. I have also tested various aspects of the FileSystemObject to make sure it wasn't that, FileExists, FolderExists, GetFolder all work fine so it can't be the FileSystemObject. The only thing I can think of it being is the file permissions in IIS, but I have tried changing them but that doesn't seem to help either, am I doing it right ?
Any help you can give on this situation would be greatly appreciated.

Just a couple of thoughts...
Before you set TextStream = Nothing, you really should call TextStream.Close. Another thing to try might be to call Response.Flush after each line is read to send the text to the browser, rather than waiting until the entire file is loaded to output the text. That would let you see the process as it progresses, rather than waiting for the end, and might give you some insight as to where the process is failing. Alternatively you could use Response.Buffer= False as the first line following the language declaration on the page to disable buffering completely and send output immediately.

My answer may not solve/fix the browser hanging  problem. May b, I can suggest another method to invoke the sit updation.
Make a ASp script which opens as a list of input fields, and make the data entry person to enter the data and let the submit @ the asp page update the site??

Hello everyone,
I have a question about vb + assess + asp.
If i write a code in vb in the access database is there a way to run this code from server side
asp.
What i want to do is add a function to assess database that searches the access table to find out if this person has already been on the site.
Does anyone knows if this possible?
And y is there a vb editor in access???

I haven't found a way to do so yet, but I'm still looking. But why do you want to do this? Why not simply add a userid to the database on the first visit, then use ADO to query the database to find if that userid exists? Using cookies will allow you to accomplish the same thing without the user having to supply a userid, but this requires that the user have cookies enabled in the browser. You can't always depend on that, but you can provide a notice on the site to the effect that it won't work if cookies are disabled.

Access isn't meant to be a full relational database server. It's designed for use in a small office for developing custom database applications for internal use. VBA is included, along with the VB editor, to let you provide the functionality needed to respond to user input appropriate to your application. When you include a src="javascript.js" in your html code, am I correct in assuming that only the actual html file are downloaded by the user, and you will save download time because the code in the .js file are only downloaded when used? Or are both the html file and the .js file downloaded when the page is opened?
