I'm not a cyclist my self, but here's something a friend of mine once said:
There's no such thing as aquaplaning on a motorcycle. Before aquaplaning sets in you'll land flat on your face.
I guess there's some truth to that, if you don't get too scientific about it.

Been there, done that, got the scars to prove it!
Worse one for me (that I didn't fall off as a result of) was going round a corner and finding some kind soul had dropped a full container of new engine oil and it had covered the road. Stayed upright - purely by luck - and didn't even have time to swear. 
With experience, it gets easier to control front wheel slides - I had one bike (a Virago 1100) that was so massively over-braked at the front that every time you needed an emergency stop the front would lock up. And I was commuting into London every day in those days, so it would happen most weeks. Cured it by swapping the OE tyres for Pirelli Route 66's which had better grip and suited the bike nicely.
And then sold the bike and started on a series of Moto Guzzi California 1100's instead!
