For years I was saying, that we value to much the research universities make...so we give too much money to run them and we end up with such idiotic results...

This sort of article just show how rich we have all become - we can afford to waste tens of thousands of dollars on people who couldn't express a coherent thought to save their lives.

The problem is that university tenure now depends so much on publishing rather than genuine results or teaching ability that lecturers and professors simply do not have time to reflect on their latest brilliants ideas. It has to be got down on paper and into a journal asap. It's quantity not quality that vice-chancellors and department heads will be totting up at the end of each academic year.

One of our customers, became an university (from collage) not too lately... It was some horrible place even before (they run for the research money to get the 'university' label), but now it is just catastrophic...
Skipper: We'll fix it.

Another in our occasional series of new albums that I didn't think I'd enjoy but are getting more than a cursory second listening: Limitless by Tonight Alive
Sample track: To Be Free[^]
This is the second album by an Ozzie band which has got some criticism from the native rock press for the abandonment of punk elements in the first and for being too polished but you can't have everything. Bit of a genre defying outing with all kinds of influences (this track even suggests a bit of Little Big Town style country in places) but with a familiar pop/rock foundation (sometimes bordering on rock cliche but rescued by outstanding vocals).
Anyway, enjoy ... or not. There won't be a test!

My dear wife and I hit a rough patch every time I "upgrade" her machine. Recently, when I converted her machine to Windows 10, she complained that the Edge browser was so very different from IE11, among other issues. So I offered to take her back to Windows 7. Then she said: "You're going to take away all these neat games that came with 10?!" I said: "Yes". And that was the end of the complaints about 10.

How are they different?
URL bar and content area are there, use Google if you can't remember an URL.

There are differences. One problem was that she had too many items in the Favorites Bar. In Edge it results in every item in the bar being displayed as a star, with the result that you have no idea what each star represents.

Never used that. I'm happy with the URL Bar autocomplete. While this is my personal opinion on the fav bar, MS should've thought about that. But I guess that's the problem with developing for "normal people": Some of their problems go over our head.

Good one! Reminds me of a recent tech support episode with my father-in-law who wanted to move his WAP. I recommended using the home-wiring adapters. I use them and they work great. Anyway, after moving his WAP and setting it up per my instructions, the WAP quit working. He even moved it back to the original location and it wouldn't work. He was convinced that plugging the WAP into the home-wiring adapter had fried it and had gotten pissed that I had ruined his fairly new and expensive WAP!
Half an hour later, after downloading the manual, I noticed that there was a button on the top of the unit to turn off wireless. Sure enough, I called back and asked him to click it, and he says 'I didn't know that was a button! Wow, now it's lighting up!...uhhh, sorry about those names I called you earlier.'
