I've tried it and had problems importing and running pods.Especially the google api pods. Objective C project didn't have such problems.

As I see it, Swift is the modern version of Objective-C the same way C# is the modern version of C++.
Other than that, I cannot say more as I only code in C++ on windows. 
I'd rather be phishing!

The C# to C++ relationship is rather different. Surely it would be better to compare C++ with systems languages such as D or Rust? The latter two being "modern" versions of C++. Though, of course, we do now have modern C++.

A colleague has used it a bit recently and likes it. However, he more-or-less went straight to Swift, by-passing Objective C, having fairly recently switched to an iphone.

I should be asking if anyone can compare Swift to C#. My opinion of Objective-C is not very good and I expect Objective-C users to like a replacement, even if it is 10 or 15 years behind C#.

Ditto, from my brief acquaintance with it. I think most coming from a traditional C-family (i.e., C syntax) background find it odd.
