The reason I don't use IE (still on Win7) for dev is because I actually do web development and IEs dev tools suck.

IE has done that to me for years, but I noticed it when typing in a web address. If I didn't type the http:// in front, I got Bing telling me all the places my server could be found. None of them were on my local network.

Well, forgetting to connect your server to your local network is just careless! You can't blame ***MICROSOFT*** (heart heart heart) for your stupid mistakes.
Your computer belongs to them, but if you don't allow them to own your server, too, then don't be surprised if you have problems.

127.0.0.1 seems to work.
also, you should be able to edit the hosts file found at (even on win10):
c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\
localhost is commented out by default.
But, agreed that this is annoying.
