Like many things, DevOps works until it doesn't. The problem is that when DevOps fails, that failure is spectacular and is often company ending.

A team of scientists and researchers from various institutions made a controversial claim that shakes all conventional knowledge of space and time. They say that there are parallel universes with multiple timelines. If this claim is indeed real, then time travel is a possibility. My great-great grandson just showed up and said, "No it isn't"

Depends on how you define time travel. If as a strict movement against the flow of time in your specific space then yes, that is not time travel. If as a relative movement against time then maybe it is. If you perceptually move from current-day to a parallel world which in every way and molecule resembles 1986 you have effectively gone back 30 years for all purposes perceivable to you.

In college, an Ingres database system was being used that dragged the system to its knees. We learned to create command files to compile, link and run our applications. We'd start it and walk away.. eat, play cards, come back later, check on it, repeat.

Perhaps they can speed up its implementation of C++17.
(Setting up your builds correctly is usually a better solution. Oh, and comprehensive unit tests will likely take longer than the build.)
