Looks like the typical "robust discussion" one would expect in the anything-goes wasteland that is "Soap Box 1.0". 
There might be an argument for deleting the posts, depending on what rules (if any) apply to that dark corner of the site. But I suspect the same argument would also apply to some of the other posts in that thread.
There might be an argument for a moderator to step in and have stern words with the involved parties.
But, so long as it doesn't spill over into the rest of the site, I don't think there's any need to ban the user.
