Back at work after the most hair-raising, action packed holiday I've ever taken. Crammed quite a bit into two weeks! Getting to Burning Man from Zürich first, then back to San Fran for a couple days and then to Hawaii, capped off with a marathon journey all the way back to ZRH from Honolulu in one 24-hour blast. Good times.
I highly recommend both the whole Burning Man experience, and the Pearl Harbor military museum in Hawaii. You should set aside a full day for the military museum, particularly for the USS Arizona and USS Missouri exhibits.
Oh, and Reno is a terrible, terrible place.

So, the authorities call for the evacuation of Florida, yet hundreds of news crew descend, desperately looking for the latest juicy tidbit of destruction and carnage with which to regale us, and talking at length about 'keeping an eye on' water level at some dock somewhere, with great authority of course.
And then that fake wind speed meter on CNN, at the bottom of the screen, replaying endlessly the same animated pattern. Utterly fake.

Reminds me of the Tsunami in Phuket, same sh*t on an international scale:
Literally hundreds of news crew down there 'on the scene,' filming (and on rare occasion token "help" a survivor) but mostly getting in the way and stopping rescuers to interview them, many jammed had themselves in on inbound rescue item flights (no worries, just unload them blankets ...), and their most repeated message: "please don't try to come here because inbound space, food, water, and accommodation are all in very desperate short supply."
They were filming and in the background of their vids there would be other film crews (and their support staff) doing exactly the same thing.
FFS, what bunch of completely idiot wankers. The news is more important than the people suffering.
I no longer watch the news, it's always overhyped and these days the people doing it are total brainless clods.
