... completely glosses past the single biggest reason I have no desire to use python.

Quote:
Methods are straightforward and use the same technique to define them as other code blocks. All methods have untyped return values, so there’s no reason to declare the return type explicitly.

Strong compile time type checking can prevent an entire exercise in mass tedium code test suite's worth of runtime errors from ever making it to test/production.

Even more than syntactic whitespace, which has been a bad idea since compilers moved beyond the limitations of early versions of FORTRAN/COBOL/etc and a horrifyingly awful one in these modern days of whitespace devouring webpages, having to choose between accepting a huge class of errors will only be found during test/use and rewriting a huge part of what strong typed languages give by default is the true abomination of the language.

Did you ever see history portrayed as an old man with a wise brow and pulseless heart, weighing all things in the balance of reason?
Is not rather the genius of history like an eternal, imploring maiden, full of fire, with a burning heart and flaming soul, humanly warm and humanly beautiful?
--Zachris Topelius
