When fb first started, I of course created an account (I'm willing to sell my myspace account, BTW), and among the first things I realised was that the "friend" thing would not only lead to ridiculous amounts of unwanted e-mail, but that it would also be used as a tool to infringe the privacy of all Internet users, by association, and, in extreme cases, could be used as a mob-mind control tool.
That these self-evident (read: "f***ing obvious!") facts were not arrived at by everyone is very much to our shame.
Bring on the AI singularity, because there's precious little intelligence anywhere else on Earth.

I would claim that my jaw dropped when I saw it mention that concentrating on requiremens was secondary to getting something out of the door - but nothing really surprises me nowadays.

I think the discussion is about the unreasonable requirements on job postings, such as "5+ years of experience with Asp.Net Core 2.1" (I actually saw that in a job posting last November).
